Recommendations for Non Alcoholic and Artificial sweetener free drinks

Hi all.

Dont know if it's just me or part of these diseases (AIH & PBC) but I can't seem to tolerate artificial sweeteners. And with Christmas fast approaching I was wondering if anyone could recommend some nice non alcoholic drinks without artificial sweeteners in them.

Thanks

I've bought myself a bottle of nonsecco! I tried some at a wedding recently and it was okay. I've never been much of a drinker, even before my cirrhosis diagnosis I would have a slimline tonic or a cup of tea at our weekly pub quiz. But I don't just to drink water all Christmas day. It was from Sainsburys but they do it in Asda I believe. I'm diabetic so I can't even drink fruit juice or something like j20.

Hello - Not sure if it’s what you’re looking for but Fentimans are very good. All soft drinks but served at most pubs as mixers... so looks like you’ve got an ‘adult drink’. I’m also a big fan of Belvoir Elderflower Presse.

I find artificial sweeteners make me feel very bloated and often sick. I got really annoyed a few weeks back when I ordered a coke, and was charged for / given a refillable glass, only to find Pepsi Max or lemonade on offer. I’m an adult and can make an educated choice about sugar, especially when I’ve made a very conscious decision not to have alcohol!

I’m trying non-alcoholic mulled wine this week. Not sure what to expect but as long as it smells like Christmas I’ll be happy. My life had changed a lot in 12 months!

Thank you. I find the artificial sweeteners make me sick too and leave a horrible taste and feeling in my mouth. Ive never heard of Fentimans so I'll be looking out for that. Enjoy the mulled wine!

My favourite is Fever Tree Light Ginger Beer. I can’t drink any other diet drinks as I find them far to sweet and they have a ‘synthet

Surely Fentimans is full of sugar as per coke very bad for liver problems

This is what confuses me! Most drinks seems bad for the liver to me, there must be some nice drinks that are ok but I apart from coffee, water & tea I don't know what else is safe? 🤔

I can recommend Bundaberg ginger beer with fresh lime squeezed into it (I have AIH also), I find Fentimans far too strong on the ginger, but Bundaberg is very nice. It might contain sweeteners though, so check. I find that intially I don't notice the sweeteners, but then after a while, the taste becomes stronger, so I can't drink any more of it. I can also recommend Beck's Blue (light lager taste, but very drinkable ). I hate J20- too sweet and the lack of choice when you go out is very frustrating, even if water is good for us, it's soooooo boring. Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic with orange juice is also nice, but since you're diabetic, you may want to add something else or try neat. I have found non-alcoholic wines to be pretty vile, so I leave alone. Good luck trying them out :)
