I'm new on here

Hello, please excuse my ignorance on this subject but it's all new to me. Just been to GP and had results of blood test and ultrasound scan. Very high liver function level on blood test and scan revealed gallstones plus stones in the liver. Does anyone else have this as need to understand it further. Thank you.

I have had gallstones and had it removed but I'm sorry I don't know anything about stones in the liver. Has your gp told you that you have liver disease?

No he hasn't said I have liver disease, just told me he's referring me to consultant. There was obviously something showing in liver on scan. He wasn't certain what it was.

I have been through a similar experience to you this past year, liver function not right for a long time, ultrasound revealed gallstones, one surgeon recommended removal, another said to wait and see, in the end after reading up on the issues the stones can cause I had it removed by keyhole surgery, I was very sore for the first few days and didn't lift anything heavy for about 8 weeks or more, for about 6 weeks after I was really regretting my decision because of having to eat a very bland diet, any fat at all and I'd be running to the nearest toilet, the bile diarrhea after about 7 days really freaked me out, I thought I'd be like this for ever more and was I really cursing the lack of info they give you on possible side affects,

anyway the histology on the gallbladder revealed multiple stones and some inflammation, so they said it was right that I had it removed, I had no symptoms apart from liver function being off and one bout of pain about 18 months prior to this which I couldn't attribute to the gallbladder for sure, gp at the time didn't know what it was, it passed after a few days,

anyway I'm now a few months post surgery, liver function has returned to normal, I've lost 2 stone from the change in diet/exercise regime and my digestive system has recovered a lot, I can eat maybe 80% of my previous diet but I avoid a lot of meat gravies and trim any fat of meat etc, I'm hoping it continues to improve because I'd like to have a cheeseburger or a cooked breakfast again at some stage, I'll never go back to my old unhealthy diet though, the new diet is so much heathier, eating things like salmon and mackerel now and a lot of fruits and veg etc. it was a worrying few months but I'm improving all the time, the body is amazing how it adapts and recovers, and I haven't to worry anymore about getting a gallstone attack. hope this helps.

Good morning and thank you for your reply. I'm really pleased that you have finally got the problem sorted. I'm not over concerned about the gallstones as I understand that procedure, however it's what they've seen in the liver that troubles me. Just have to be patient until my consultant's appt, which my GP has said he would expedite.
