Hi guys! Haven’t posted since my transplant 7 months ago.

I’m doing well but can’t shake the fatigue still. It’s improved since my op but I’m struggling to increase my working hours

Thanks

Olivia

I was constantly knackered for just over a year following surgery. My sleep routine was extremely erratic during that time which didn't help. However once I was given the thumbs up to start going to the gym, I had a huge improvement in my sleep and overall fitness. Nearly 2 years on, I still get tired more easily than I normally would for my age but overall I feel much better than the first year.

You'll get there, it just takes time 😊

Hi Olivia, glad to hear that you are recovering well and that you will celebrate your first liversary soon :) I am currently 6 months post tx and also feel the fatigue and by other comments I'd deduce it's quite normal. We've been through a very serious surgery and some tough times but it will all pass. Take care and if you'd like to meet up and are in London area, just let me know.

Hi

I’m 14.5 mths post and I have pretty good stamina but afterwards I’m really knackered and need my bed. It’s better but I think it’s just something we have to get used to. I have one day a week when I do nothing and often have the odd hour nap in the day/ when I get home .

Goes with the territory I’m afraid

Yeah, it can take quite a while. It probably took me about 12 months or so. I'm now 18 months post transplant and can walk for miles, but, if I try to run i'm stuffed after about 50yds. Just keep plugging away. When I went back to work I went back on a phased return over about 3 months but retained the opportunity to work at home when needed.

Thanks very much for the replies. I think so many think I’m absolutely fine now. Especially my parents. I’m trying to do the couch to 5 k but repeating weeks as I’m quite sore and drained after. I’ve over done it today so I realise I need to just take a few days off.

I guess 7 months isn’t that long considering the op I’ve had.

Thank you 🙏🏼

7 months is early days Olivia, not just due to the operation but think back to how poorly you were for how long before - transplant isn't going to over turn all that over night or indeed in just a few months. You'll get there but just take your time.

All the very best, Katie

Keep at it . I have not had a liver transplant but reading some of the posts from dear members on the forum I do understand it is not where the struggle ends. Tho people may think your automatically " fixed " right away.It simply isnt true. Keep up the fight Olivia!

If you dont mind me asking how did your spleen size fair after surgery?
