Hi, I am looking for constructive opinions, especially about the post-tx care and whether they specialise in complex cases too. Many thanks in advance ! :)

I was transplanted at the end of January and I have absolutely nothing but praise and sincere thanks to the most wonderful team in Edinburgh. I still attend regularly and even the receptionist knows my name. I was diabetic, extremely under weight post tx and was monitored closely. In april i developed CMV and more recently anaemia both of which are being monitored very closely. I trust these people implicitly. I can assure you that you are in very safe hands.

Hi there

I had my Transplant a year ago at Edinburgh, and I know you will have the best of care from an excellent team at Ward 206. From pre-transplant assessment, through Transplant procedure, transplant itself and post transplant care.

Sometimes I think they are too through post transplant, but that is only because they know what they are doing, and looking out to prevent issues arising.

When I visited the ward on Tuesday, a year after transplant, they still remembered my name, and the out outient team are also so friendly and remember me when I go through, even through it is only every three/four weeks.

Thank you- this is very important for me to know. By saying 'too through' do you mean you had plenty of tests/visits/they were contactable? Many thanks :)

Too thorough as one year on and I still go over every three/four weeks, and regularly have additional blood checks at GP, but that is because my bloods never seem to stay stable, but nothing is ever wrong really, just feels a little over cautious at times, but better that then the alternative. I had 2 1/2 weeks in hospital over the summer with neitophenic sepsis, which was diagnosed early through regular checking by clinic and GP (and the two communicating well), so go with 'too thorough', even if it does mean a regular trip to Edinburgh.

I have to add that the coordinators in Edinburgh have always been approachable and easily contactable, and even a quick call to the ward post release for advice is welcomed.

It’s a bit of a trek but at least we’re not in the outer Hebrides !!

I like that they are so thorough - very assuring.

Hi Pizamkazdw

You may want to consider getting in touch with our fantastic patient Support Group Facilitator who organises support groups in Scotland and has groups in Edinburgh for pre and post transplant patients.
