Got Christmas decorations everywhere in my house. ...But there not mine, I’m making them for a local charity to keep me busy. I’ve got a little way to go before they finished. Can’t believe people are putting their lights up already. Each to their own but we haven’t even had bonfire night yet! Oh and George Clooney is mine 😜 (I wish)

I've just made parkin ( we're northerners) after I put it in the oven I read the recipe for cooking time and it says WHEN COOL PUT IN AN AIRTIGHT TIN FOR AT LEAST A WEEK!!!! I've just had to make a chocolate cake for tonight 🎂🍰🍯 what planet are these people on...who can wait a week????

I'm going to be Southern, and Stupid, here but what is Parkin? I know, from what has been 'said' here, that is 'some sort' of cake/ pastry or maybe chocolate....Perhaps all three?
Please understand that, we Southerners, aren't intentional 'Stupid'....I mean, we DO know about Flat Caps, Ekky (that may not be spelt right) Thump, Pineapple Fritters, Ferrets and Pigeons- so not TOO Stupid. Unfortunately 'Parkin' somehow, managed to, Pass Me By.
Can you do, this STUPID Southerner, the favour of 'Enlightening' him please?

Thanks for your reply I DO know Scouse, funnily enough (Eye you'll Ave 'A' 'Scouser' of me yet!). I'm not a 'great fan', of lamb, which is normally used, though I have had, Beef. As regards 'Cockney' Jellied Eels.....um No thanks, I'd rather have Pie & Mash.....I'm interested, in this 'Parkin' though, I might Look Up a recipe. 'Ginger Cake', you say, sounds lovely.
I have been, as a Day Tripper (One Way Ticket, naturally) to Liverpool....it rained, and rained, and rained. I spent, my time, visiting The Beatles Museum, WOW what a place!
Anyway, I've got to Run. Thank you, once again, for indulging this 'Southern Softy'. Enjoy the Parkin, and the Scouse.
