My doctor has referred me to a Liver specialist at my local hospital . As something showed up on my liver at a recent ultrasound scan. And I was also diagnosed with Hepitis A after many blood tests. What can I expect from my first appointment ?

I’m sorry I can’t help as I was diagnosed in France. I just wanted to wish you all the best. Don’t be worried, just ask when you can’t understand. Take someone if poss as 2 heads are better than one to remember things. If not take notes . Pease tell how it goes and blog when you need.
Thank you my husband is going with me. I will keep you up dated how I get on . Just waiting for my appointment now x
Dear Karen,
I would expect that on your first appointment you will be given a physical examination, a very thorough medical history taken - not just of yourself but family too. You may well end up having a whole load more blood tests and they may want to do another type of scan which will look at the liver in a little more detail - either a CT scan or MRI. As Isabelle says - 2 heads are definitely better than one on these occasions. Take a notebook with you with questions that you want to ask written down and also to write down what you are told. Above all - do not be afraid to ask questions and if you do not understand the answer ask the doctor to explain it to you again.
Remember they work for you. No question is a dumb question. Most physicians seem to be more open with patients who come in with notebooks or questions - it lets them know YOU are participating in YOUR care. Thumbs Up!
Hi Karen - I’ve had Hep A myself - as long as you follow all doc advise (as someone else said, take note pad etc), you should make a full and healthy recovery - it will prob take a few weeks. Wishing you the best of luck
