Request for second scan

Hi everyone,

I had my 6 monthly scan last friday then went to see consultant after he just seemed to read the report on the screen, cirrhosis and slitty enlarged spleen 15cm he said no change from last scan. Told him been having pain around liver still and a lot of pain where your spleen is in my lower left rid cage when i lean to the left or on my exercise bike and pretty much everything im in a whole lot of pain any sort of pressure on that area sets it off. He didn’t seem bothered and said your G.P should be helping with pain relief and any other compilations because we are only checking for cancer so that was the end of that. Today in the post i got an appointment for another us scan on liver it says requested my consultant for 19th june next month bit taken back by it because I've never been recalled back. If anybody has any ideas why i would be very grateful. Sorry for rambling on im new here and to forms all together & sorry spelling is 🙂

Hi Donna.

I'd say don't worry. Get the scan done it's good that has been arranged for you as where it appeared at first ' that was the end of it' they are checking to see what's causing your pain. This is far better than palming you off with pain killers which only treat the symptoms not the cause.

Good luck with it and do keep us posted with results etc.

I would take it as a positive. Although the guy appeared not to listen to you about pain he then changed his mind and decided to ask for another scan. He didn’t call you or your gp and get you in immediately so there’s nothing urgent but thought it worth having a second look. Whatever the outcome you’re in pain so it’s best to get to the bottom of things. Don’t worry though I know it’s hard. Keep us posted.

As the others have said, It seems like it is a scan to see if there is anything that can be causing the pain you are in. As there is no difference from the last scan i wouldn't worry too much but we all know thats easier said then done. Keep us informed

Hi Donna and welcome to the forum. Like others have said, to me it looks like your consultant has had a change of mind decided to do another scan to check if there is anything that’s causing your pain. It is horrible being in pain and pain killers only treat the symptom not the cause. But try not to worry, if it was anything urgent he would have called you or your gp. Hope it goes well and keep us informed x

Hi everyone who replied to my post and thank you so much for the reassuring messages you are all very nice and friendly people it’s nice to know you can write something so silly more so to get it off your chest and people actually take the time to read it then be very reassuring and care about the outcome. Sorry about ur condition and clearly the pain is the cirrhosis. The doctors should be controlling any pain ur in. Always go to all scans so they can keep an eye on ur liver and notice any changes stay strong keep active eat healthy and good luck x

Thanks jojo, I'm already on a lot pain relief morphine and loads more stuff because i have other health problems but bin on it all for that long it doesn't help this pain. He did say they are something's he will tell my G.P to try me on. That's it we just gotta keep plodding on

Gonna be really honest cannabis is very good for pain relief yes illegal but all these legal drugs dont help and an illegal drug would and its only deemed illegal cos thw government say so even tho it has many benefits all the best xx

Hi jojo, it is wrong that it is illegal as I have read about the huge benefits for helping MS sufferers. I have read that you can get medical cannabis with the "high" factor taken out. Would that be possible for Donna?

Interesting post. Pain is just not right day in day out; peeps should not have to live like this.

I think u can get the medical cannabis with the thc the high factor taken out but to be honest it needs to have thc in it cos that is what helps with pain relief i think cannabis oil cures cancer il b sure to take it if i ever get it lol. A woman had 6wks left t live with cancer her friends found alternative illegal cannabis oil gave her 1 drop in a capsule every day and no lie her scans wer gettin better and better nothing worked until she took the oil and a 5ml shringe like u use for calpol lol lasted her 2month as she used 1 drop a day its amazing i dnt smoke it tho lol i use t but dnt like how it makes me feel but if i was dyin i b willim to try anythin and same applies to my children cos thats how much i strongly believe in it 😉

P.s the woman only had little cancer left in her stomach not sure if any of u once seen her on "this morning" she was tellin the world she wants it legalised the government dnt wana admit its a cure lol they dnt wana believe that something illegal that has been there all along is the cure they always say theres no scientific proof it works😕shes ur proof right there!!!!😂

I very much agree with you jojo and you sunny. It has been helping people for so long and it’s been proven, it will keep helping like you both say illegal it’s wrong you would of thought by now it was medical marijuana at least. I did use it for many years but stopped for the same reason as you jojo but I’d smoke it again if i knew someone who would be a sure deal the pain gets that bad with my cirrhosis and fibromyalgia

They wnt use it medically lol cos they make enough on all their pharmacutical(spelt wrong lol) legal drugs. Something like this u can grow yourself and use as ur own medication but ur not aloud only because its so easy to do and everyone would b doin it and they wunt benefit frm that cos everyone would turn to cannabis and away from all the prescription drugs. Well u can smoke it for pain relief but the smokin is still bad as ur still breathin it into ur lungs(i smoke cigs🤐) lol but the oil is the best form. Full on THC!!!! Tender health care lol

Hi Donna,

I just wanted to respond regarding your spleen. I had an enlarged spleen as well many years ago. After many tests and such, they removed it. They advised me I had a blood clot, but not to worry about it as it was small and faded. Fast forward to present and I survived pregnancy and I have a blood clot in my portal vein and now going for TIPS. My liver is healthy apparently. I'm sorry to hear you are in pain.

I just wanted to let you know to see if they spotted any clots anywhere.

I know it's scary when a doctor wants to do a recall but like the others have said, it's best that they do that. Good luck and keep us updated

Hi Aileen, I’m sorry to hear your ill health glad your liver is healthy that is good news. Thank you for your very kind words i feel so much better in myself now I’m on this form don’t feel alone anymore witch is nice, never been on anything like this before and now I’m wondering why it’s taken me so long lol

I hear ya! I am new to this forum and already feel better having people to talk to about all the medical stuff we all seem to go through. All of us have some thing different and yet similar too. This is the first time I feel like someone knows what I'm talking about!
