I used to have anorexia - though now am at a healthy weight. When I was in hospital at a very low weight having weekly bloods taken, they discovered that my liver enzymes were slightly elevated and they never went back down.
One and a half years later, I am having issues with hypothyroidism and had to have a blood test for that. My B12 came up high: 177p/mol (normal 25.1 - 165). So, it was recommended I have a liver function test. Most of my liver enzymes are still quite high and don’t seem to have changed from when I was in hospital. My alkaline phosphates (ALP) especially is higher than the normal range and my aspartate transferase (AST) is just below the upper limit of the range.
Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP): 119 IU/L (normal 35-104)
Aspartate Transferase (AST): 29.1 IU/L (normal 0-31)
Alanine Transferase (ALT): 21 IU/L (normal 10-35)
CK: 94 IU/L (normal 26-140)
Gamma GT: 14 IU/L (normal 6-42)
Bilirubin: 15 umol/L (normal 0-20)
Should I be worried about these results? I turn 20 later this month, so I’m still young. I have never drunk in my life, I eat a healthy diet and my bmi is 18.8, so I’m not overweight.
