You have come to the right place. You will be fatigued and may find you sleep in the day and not slept the night. You are probably feeling cold as well. Ask any questions here someone will have an answer

You must stop drinking if you want to live. You may feel worse at first but persevere

Thanks Fastkat, it's a very lonely illness, and close people I know don't seem to want to know, unless I'm on a binge, it's been about 3 months now without a drink, but I know if I lapse I will get serious problems, the last time I collapsed several times, I was unconscious in the road, my body can't cope with alcohol anymore.

I have fibrosis from NAFLD and get very tired as well. Apparently there's a lot of judgement with liver disease, a lot of blame. Not much empathy. First thing my brother said to me when I told him was " do you drink soda?" Blame.

I don't have an addiction like you so I don't have that battle. I've drastically changed my diet and I haven't had any alcohol since my diagnosis. I can say it must be very difficult to battle such an addiction in a world that glorifies alcohol at every turn. I miss being able to drink socially so I can only imagine your struggle.

They're not supposed to, but doctors are human and they judge. They judge our behavior. Yours may be thinking your brought it on yourself by drinking . Mine has actually made comments about my diet (even though I went to her when I started gaining weight and diets weren't helping). People like to think they could go better and until it happens to them that's just the way it is.

Try not to worry about those who don't understand. Focus on your recovery. Try to do everything you can to avoid alcohol and eat the right foods to help cleanse you liver. Don't let distractions cause you to lose sight of your goal. And it's ok if there's set backs or obstacles, they can be overcome. Good luck, I wish you the best.

Thank you Lara86, I do feel I'm on an upward curve, I can walk into a bar and order a soft drink, this is mainly due to driving and having a meal, we drunks are seen in such a bad way, but morraly I would not be able to live with myself causing an accident due to alcohol, I wish you all the best, and hope your life improves, forget Drs I believe we know What s best for ourselves.
