5 months post transplant, am I expecting too much?

Medically I am doing well, my blood test results are normal. I don't know if I am expecting too much as I feel very tired on most days? My fitness level hasn't really improved over the last 3 months and some days I feel generally unwell. It would be great to have some feedback on other people's experiences

hi i had my transplant last may... initially I felt good despite the scar etc... but gradually as time went oni felt less well... some of the symptoms i appear to be getting are down to the anti rejection drugs im taking... but generally the feeling yucky particularly in the mornings... some nausea has come back.

i have pbc so wether its the antibodies kicking back in i don't... what type of liver disease do you have?? it frustrating isn't it.... to be given the second chance and then feel so unwell.

best wishes cazer

I had alcoholic liver disease, I was clean for 18 months before my transplant. I think the fact I felt very well before the transplant and not as good now doesnt help my perspective on this, hopefully I will improve. As you say, the anti- rejection drugs have side effects, these are supposed to lessen over time. Do you take steroids? I have heard horror stories on withdrawl symptoms when they are reduced or stopped altogether. I hope things improve in the future.

Hi

It's completely normal to feel a little unwell for several months after transplant. It's a huge operation and it takes a long time for the body to adjust to the new liver and go back to normal. I also felt great for the first couple of months then there was a comedown for the next 10 months or so. During this time I suffered from fatigue and random aches and pains everywhere. I should point out that I haven't had a single day post transplant when I've felt as bad or worse than I did in the months leading up to the surgery. 15 months on still get minor fatigue but otherwise fit and healthy as expected.
