Amazing difference with fibroscan!

I have chronic liver disease and 3 years ago a fibroscan revealed the worse possible result at 75kpa. One year later they repeated the scan with exactly the same result. Today is 3 years later and to my amazement (and the doctors) it had gone down to 39kpa. Although that's a terrible score it's almost 50% better than before. The only thing we can put it down to is my vegan diet as all my blood tests have been amazing since making the lifestyle change. I'm absolutely over the moon!

That's great news! . My fibro read was 27 ? . Not sure about KPA ? ..not sure what that is lol. All i know is that its stage f4.

Due to see my hepatologist on 1st may. Will have been over a year since my fibro read so ill ask for another one. Just goes to show how much diet has an effect! 😉. thank you for posting.

kPa is just a unit of measurement and is a measure of pressure. kPa is short for kilo Pascal and is a measure of the stiffness of the liver.

Thank you mc1189. I never knew that untill you told me. Always wondered what it stood for. Much appreciated 😊

I never knew what kPa is either. I have had a liver transplant and I never remember that at any stage of my liver disease. Hmmm.... will investigate that though. Thanks for the info.

meme7, if you never had a fibroscan prior to transplant you will not have encountered the kPa score system as it is the measurement taken during fibroscan as others have said to identify the stiffness of the liver. Different underlying conditions actually present as different stages of liver disease on the fibroscan score chart - if you do a basic internets search for Fibroscan score chart you'll see images of this chart.

My hubby has cirrhosis but has never had a fibroscan - his consultant has said that as we already know hubby has cirrhosis, having a fibroscan would add no further information to his diagnosis.

Thanks Katie, I probably never had a fibroscan. I had cirrhosis when I discovered many years ago that I had HepC. I had no idea what that was. I got it when given blood back in early 70's before they tested for Hep in blood. By the time I realized what I had, cirrhosis was already there. Ok thanks now I know. I hope your hubby stays well. I developed cancer and that is how I got the liver. Sometimes if Liver Disease is End Stage and deadly getting cancer can be your friend. You move up on the transplant list. I was on list for only 30 days. Thanks Katie. Prayers for you and your hubby. Take care. x

As a science teacher (once) I thought I should take the mystery out of that little problem lol, so you are very welcome. :)
