Hi all, I have been diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. In the last couple of months I have developed a nasty cough which stops me sleeping. There is no fluid on my lungs, my blood oxygen is good, I had a chest X-ray that came back clear. Doctors say it can't be viral or infection as I'm not coughing anything up. Has anyone had a similar experience with my condition,

Nafld persistent cough
I wonder if this is either post nasal drip or acid reflux - I am supposedly the well one in our household - hubby has the liver issue but I also have a constant sticky feeling in my throat which often causes night time coughing. I saw an ENT specialist who said mine was due to post nasal drip and acid reflux at night time. For a while I was on omeprazole for the reflux and a nasal steroid and it all but stopped. Perhaps you should try and see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.

I've had an identical cough for months, probably even a year now. I also had a clear x-ray result and none of my medications are thought to be responsible. I'm in Goa at the moment and under the temporary care of an Ayurvedic doctor. He's currently dealing with my fibromyalgia but I'll raise the question of the cough when I see him on Saturday. It seems to be easing slightly which could be down to the cumin seed tea I take 3 times a day - simmer 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds in a cupful of water for a few minutes. Leave to stand then strain and drink. It's so simple, tastes pleasant and definitely eases the digestion. More news after my next consultation with doc.
