Extremely Elevated AST, ALT, Alkaline Phosphatase

My numbers are:

Alkaline Phosphatase, S 153

AST (SGOT) 276

ALT (SGPT) 471

Went to a local clinic as I was feeling ill and they requested blood panels. After receiving the results I was referred to a Gastroenterologist. I left his office today with orders for additional blood panels and a couple of abdominal ultrasounds. The doctor couldn't give me any indication of what could possibly be wrong.

Are any of these numbers familiar to anything specific? He assured me it wasn't due to any of my medications or anything recent in my history. I am having a bit of anxiety until I have these additional tests next week and waiting for the results.

None of us are medically qualified and arn't allowed or able to give any sort of clue as to diagnosis based on blood test results ........... even the specialist you've seen isn't able to give you answers until he has the fuller picture based on the scans and further tests he's sent you for & even after those they may need further examinations. From the numbers that are elevated it would suggest you do currently have some sort of liver inflammation going on - liver issues can be down to short lived conditions due to contaminated foods / bugs and such like or can be longer term issues.

Whilst its easy to say don't panic or stress until doctor has gotten more results you must try not to.

Fingers crossed your doctor is able to give you some firm answers once these further tests are carried out.

Let us know how you get on and stay aboard for lots of support.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Differences in normal range for different laboratories can make it difficult to compare or comment on individual test results specifically. This is due to the different brand of tests that are used and how these are interpreted.

This forum is here to share experiences and provide support to each other and we would advise against posting any test results or asking for specific medical advice. This is not a medical forum and should not be used to try and make diagnoses or replace advice from your own medical practitioners who have a much wider view of your health and test results.

We appreciate how worried you are and hope you can still post with regards to support and information but it is against the rules of our forum to post test results and to ask for specific medical advice,

You may find The British Liver Trust publication on liver disease tests explained useful to read;

However, it really would be best to discuss your test results with your own doctors who know you best,

Best wishes,

If your AST and ALT are elevated it could suggest an inflammation in your liver but it probably could be due to other factors. I am sure your doctors will be able to explain your test results.

Hi, I had similar numbers, which I found through a routine blood check, not pain or discomfort. However, mine was easy to pinpoint the problem, alcohol. I stopped drinking ( too late) and the numbers went back to normal; however, I ignored the first liver signs and now I am dealing with esophageal varices and liver damage. I hope you are able to just stop drinking all together so your inflammation does not result in portal hipertensión then internal varices bleeding. But like many here say, everyone here have different sumthoms.
