I'm a 21 year old, type 2 diabetic, have under active thyroid and slightly overweight.
For the past 3 months i have been housebound due to serious pain at the top right and bottom left of my abdomen. I have had 3 liver function tests done (1 each month) and each time the number had been jumping up considerably. I have recently also had a full MOT of blood tests, anything they could think of to do with liver. the only two which came back unusual were the liver function (again) and my antibody, this has come back borderline.
I just wanted to know if anyone knows what this means or have been through something similar. The doctors don't know what is happening and neither do I.
Thank you for reading!

Hi, Untill further test are done your results could mean anything. Don't look for problems which may not be there, for the moment try to stay stress free ,easy to say I know. I hope all goes well for you...
Good advice there from Brummi. Sadly they can't always get a cause. Just hold right until they finish their investigations. If blood tests don't throw anything up then things like ultra sound will show what's physically going on.
Hi thank you. I have had an ultrasound as they thought it was gallstones previously. All that had shown was a slightly fatty liver. Guess I'll have to sit tight. Thank you for your response
Have they tested for fatty liver or Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency? When my levels went up my GP sent me to a Gastroenterologist that did many tests & found I had both.
Had an ultrasound and said. I had a slightly fatty liver but don't think I have been tested for the second one but may suggest that to my dr. Thank you!
You have some of the risk factors for non alcohol related fatty liver disease (NAFLD) - have a wee read at the NAFLD page on the British Liver Trust website. Fatty liver needs addressing as over time it can lead to fibrosis and even advance towards cirrhosis.
Hi Emiily. Sorry to hear about your situation. It must be very frustrating for you. Being housebound is awful.I speak from experience. But try not to worry too much about what it might be.I'm sure the doctors will find out soon. They have to do all the preliminary tests first then the more intensive ones. Let us know when they do. We're all here for you.
