Well I got my call at 1530hrs and am going on the waiting list!!! Very surprised. Have got to go for the educational day next Wednesday and then it's official.

They said they've got some concerns over a blockage in my portal vein which they are going to monitor with three monthly CT scans and also some concerns over my renal functions. So here we go. Waiting to be waiting chapter over.

Now just waiting... 😬

Over the moon for you hunni and what you have mentioned about portal vein and renal problems I had both as well.

And your honoured I never got an educational day lol 😁

Fingers crossed it's not a long wait x

Thanks Jojo, like I've said my only real symptoms are the grand Homer Simpson impression I can do, never a fancy dress party when you need one, and the fatigue. Hopefully the other concerns won't cause any serious issues.

It's not a case of being honoured to get an educational day it's more of a case of "this sappy sod NEEDS educating" lol πŸ˜‚

I bet you will feel the difference once you have had none of us realise how bad we was till we had, it's a case of you get used to feeling that way.

And your just homer πŸ˜ͺ over haribo and not 🍩 lol

Nothing would of sunk in with me if I did have an educational day anyway haha πŸ˜‚

Good news. I had an educational day, I think it's more for your immediate family member (s) than you to be honest. Cos it just tells them what to expect after op when you are in intensive care for eg all wires and drains etc you have. It also gives them a chance to ask questions. When I went there was a couple and all the wife was worried about was when her husband could go back to work and when could they then go abroad on holiday lol πŸ˜„ πŸ–

Identity75β€’ in reply toGaynorlowson

I can't wait for a holiday. My other half got me into going abroad as before we got together I'd only been to a few places. Now I've got the bug. We had to cancel a holiday to Bali last year and we were due to go skiing January just gone which also got cancelled. So we have some serious catching up to do. My only concern is insurance, have googled a couple of times to see what it'd cost and it's not pretty.

We did stick with a holiday to NYC November last year. We thought it's only a week. We are in a modern country if something did go wrong, heaven forbid and gladly it didn't or it would have cost a large fortune, it was on both our bucket lists and even though my gastro frowned upon us going we thought, maybe foolishly we'd take the risk.

I'm waffling... lol.

Take care all

You will have to wait for a year after transplant to go abroad and they want you to wear factor 50 as due to antirejection tablets we at risk of skin cancer. So sun avoidance is advised sorry to be bearer of crap news, but as long as you keep covered up you will be fine, my mate give me a name of a great insurance company but will have to ask them again as I forgot it haha I will let you know.

The other half is the sun worshiper so it's not all bad. I even have a picture of me in Mexico, in a swimming pool, during a foam party, wearing my flat cap lol

Good luck, hope you don't have to wait too long. It's at the really scary point now when they do say yes it's time, you know for ages it's an inevitability but when it arrives πŸ˜«πŸ’©lol. Take care and enjoy the haribo 😊

Hey good news. I am at kings too, don't get too excited about the education day, I don't think I found out anything I hadn't on here or on the interweb.

They may get you to sign your consent forms then, if not your be called back in. I have been on the list now for 141 days or 21 weeks or 5 months...depends how you look at it. I have portal vein thrombosis, (big ole blood clot causing some trouble) 18 tumours....I am still working full time, although I am shot to pieces at the weekend, it has been great to take my mind off things!

I remember when I was first listed I kept looking at my phone, willing it to right, kept calling my phone from my land line to make sure that it was working, talked about it all the time (Still do a little bit) It was 24/7...I remarked on it here actually in a previous post...but as everyone else said, you won't really think about it soon, there right, I don't. I know I am on the list, I know I don't pee without my phone un hand.

just going to leave this here.....The fried eggs in haribo; are actually space ships....

I know, I'm already checking my phone. Had a London number call me yesterday and my heart started racing. Stupid "were you involved in an accident? Did you make a personal compensation claim?" Grrrrrrrrrrr

Now Chelle let's not fall out, fried eggs are friend eggs. They are not space ships. I think maybe you need to go and see your doc as I think your HE is playing up. Lol 😝

Chelle_ profile image
Chelle_β€’ in reply toIdentity75

Lol....I had three of those in one day, I got really annoyed. I cried at Christmas because I could hear a phone ringing and thought it was mine and might have been the hospital; but I couldn't find my phone...my tummy does drop every time the warfarin clinic call me as they are an unknown number...

And if you Google a picture of Haribo your see space ships! lol...

Identity75 profile image
Identity75β€’ in reply toChelle_

You and me are gonna fall out!!! Lol

I've seen fried eggs and I've seen spaceships (Independance Day) and I know for a fact that Will Smith was not shooting HARIBO fried eggs out of the sky. And if Mr Smith says so then it's golden. Lol

Now stop embarrassing yourself before the men in white coats arrive and you need a to place an order for padded wallpaper.

I hope you do not have to wait too long. I had my transplant last October at Kings. They have a fantastic team, I still go back for clinics and look forward to seeing the surgeons who were part of the assessment and surgery.

P.S the call will be on a withheld number.

Best wishes

Paul
