Hi everybody I start an 8 week course on January 10th and I'm just looking for how people dealt with the side effects and what was the most common I'm genotype 1a last Fibroscan was just under 6. Does the health of your liver and viral load come into play on how bad the side effects are?
About to begin harvoni: Hi everybody I... - British Liver Trust
About to begin harvoni
I'm 43 relatively fit and healthy
Hi Bigjim my tip would be, drink plenty of water ! I received treatment 1 year ago , 12 week course of harvoni & ribavirin and drank 8-12 glasses a day and didn't get any side effects. I've been Hep C clear since February 2016. Good luck
Hi Fenderjazz! May I ask you a question about how far along your liver disease was before you took the harvoni and ribavin? At one time, I was offered it but then denied it because of all the other complications that I have regarding my health. Also ribavin is a something I Will never be able to take again as it causes severe pancreatitis, cysts and deafness with me. They lowered the dosage on the clinical trials when I was on Pegatron and ribavin and even then I almost died. But I was just curious as myI fibroscan was extremely bad!!! Thanks❣🇨🇦
No side effects at all. They did cut the second drug that they offer with it, the Riva. It's not needed and can make you nauseas..but other than that, nothing, zero, zip.
Shrugs. No muss no fuss. And I've now been Hep C free for a year and a half!
Hope that helps!
Good liuckz,
Kimberly
Do you have a special diet or anything like that. I've been clear of HCV since September 16. Thank God for the treatment.
All the best.
Regards Phil.
No special diet or anything. I've got a pre treatment meeting with my consultant tomorrow. I've been trying to cut out fatty foods tho. I stopped drinking and started smoking marijuana 14yr ago when I found out I had it but I've been told to stop that as well while I'm doing the treatment.
Cut down as much as you can with the maryjane. I cut out smoking it during the day and felt a whole lot better almost to the point of cessation. After my treatment I felt like superman!!!!
Also fatty food can be good for you. Say like a fried breakfast should keep you going all day, where as corn flakes toast and whatever will only sustain you for an hour or two, check the sugar content and fat in some of these healthy type food. I hear boiled eggs are good for the liver. Try using garlic onions ginger and coriander in your diet. Great in Spaghetti bol , tin of Tom's you won't need a mix. Also same with curry added to mix. All the best. Phil
As above but also go on a diet that makes your body alkali cos this treatment is linked to liver cancer but what's the option???
Side affects are a individual thing. I was treated for 12 weeks with rebavirin sofosbuvir and daclatasvir. I didn't get any side effects to talk about but you know you're on a very toxic drug which actually helps you, knowing your HCV is being treated for the better and 8 weeks ain't nothing. I have been clear since September. Good luck.
i took harvoni and ribovirin for 12 weeks, side affects were bad mostly from the ribovirin, took approx 6 weeks to feel good, viral load down to nothing hep c curred
Well the 1st pill of 56 has just been swallowed fingers crossed it works.
