I have had it twice for treatment of HCC prior to liver transplant. You will receive Local anesthetic prior to the procedure in your groin area so is painless. However it is uncomfortable because you are lying still during the op and will have to remain lying down afterwards up to at least 4 hrs, because the injections go through an artery and is important to prevent bleeding. youtube.com/watch?v=09fiz4c...

They are wanting to do this to me. May I ask how uncomfortable you were. The man in the video looks asleep. I have extremely low platelets and have almost bled to death twice. It won't stop once it starts. It seems to be their main concern too. I so wish they put us under for this but too bad, they do not. I spoke to you earlier and you were very helpful. Thanks.

I have so far had 4 embolisations for HCC whilst waiting on the transplant list. Although the wait on the list has become a tad tiresome (17 months and counting) it is reassuring that whenever anything untoward appears the deal with it quickly. They will often treat nodules <1cm as they do not officially count as tumors for the Milan criteria and just for information purposes they no longer count as tumors if they do measure >1cm after they have been removed and that particular site shows no recurrence within a 2 year timeframe.

So I have had a liver resection, 4 Embolisations yet only have 2 countable tumors for the purposes of the Milan criteria.

As was said earlier it is a painless procedure involving an overnight stay to ensure no abnormal bleeding post op.

Many thanks for your helpful reply - can you point me in direction of web site giving further info on Milan criteria
