There is no such thing as a "liver" count. A full panel of Liver Function Tests include a number of markers. This link might help explain britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...

Thanks for putting that information about liver function tests. Is there anywhere where you can see an "easy to read" chart of the normal / referred values, so that I can compare them with my next blood test ? THANK YOU.

Something like that would be useful, however I've yet to find one because I'm not sure if normal results depend on the person's age, sex etc. Also I think different countries have different levels of "normal".

I'm male 44 from the UK. A blood test back in Feb referred to these as normal levels (they came with the results of my actual levels):

AST iu/L (-35)

Serum alkaline phosphate IU\L (30 -100)

Serum albumin g/L (35-48)

Serum calcium mmol/L (2.15-2.60)

Serum adjusted calcium conc mmol/L (2.15-2.60)

Plasma Glucose level mmol/L (2.8-11)

Serum GT level IU/L (9-44)

Serum ALT level IU/L (-35)

Serum bilirubin level umol/L (-17)

Serum sodium mmol/L (132-146)

Serum Potassium mmol/L (3.5-5.0)

Serum Urea level mmol/L (2.5-6.7)

Serum creatinine (59-104)

Hope that helps

I think that's got to be Serum GT.

am presuming that figure is GGT? if so she needs to knock it on the head...or cut down severely. Having said that-am presuming she's quite young so chances are those numbers can be brought down with abstinence. also elevated ggt if its ggt ?can be caused by gallstones which obviously doesnt help eating disorders.

If that is her ALT count that is very high as should be in the range if 10 to 35. Why did she have a blood test and what has the Dr said. She really should stop drinking or it will be a dangerous game she will be playing and it is not much fun. I know this through experience and had to have a liver transplant because of it and it is not a good road to travel. I hope you find out what is the problem and she deals with her problem. Good luck and stay positive. X

Sorry that doesn't make sense tried to reply my just talking into my phone

All her levels are down

I've tried to get her to go AA and back to the eating disorder clinic but with no joy

The GP has been brilliant and he keeps referring her for treatment and then she just refuses go

Do you think there is a reason why she doesn't want help?

I guess you just have to be there for her, she will have to make her own choices, but like the other guys have said its not a game and there is no reversal in many cases. I don't really know what else to say.......

Here ex was violent after 9 years got here away from that and the she lost her son at the age of three and a half

She just will not expect help

The rest of the family have given up on her so that does not help

Have you heard of alanon? its a place where people who are affected by drinkers can go. its a bit like this forum, only its live. and people will be talking about their own loved ones who are drinking and what they are doing to help them. they talk about how they are affected by thier loved ones drinking and its heartbreaking stuff. however thats the best place to go for help because there is the place that you will recieve real strenght to cope with this situation and you will hear the examples of others. and may find someone in a very similar situation as yourself which is always nice. just like on this forum we all stick together and keep in groups where we are affected by certain illness or situation, its not all bad news as if you do whats right, you will be helping your daughter. and sometimes we dont know whats right until we hear from others in the same situation. the same places also exist for people with eating disorders. this is a very serious problem in its self and so sad. i do hope you get the help that you need as you want help. or you wouldnt be on the forum. dont forget about yourself as this will be dragging you down, all the very best. grace xoxoxo

Hi Grace thank you very much, I had not heard of that group but will look them up and go

I have been to the eating disorder ones before while my daughter was in the clinic , when she came out she was not really much better

She went to a few meetings with her support worker and never went back , and she is 32 so I'm unable to make her

Like this morning she should have gone to have her bloods done, but once again she will still not go

barbara your perfectly correct you cant make your daughter do anything. what you will learn at this ala non is how to cope with your own feelings about this situation, and also how to react to it. also what you learn there can be applied to any life situation. any kind of problem. its about you and doing whats best in the given situation, you must be very upset.i know, i have a daughter she is 47 i wasnt doing the right thing for her best interests , i thought i was, but i was doing the thing that caused me the least pain. and that did not help her but only encouraged her behaviour.im not saying your doing that, as im only talking about my own situation, its hard to say no. so i took the easy option and said yes. when i really should have said no but it was to painful for me as i thought i was a bad mother if i said no. but i needed to learn that real love was not about not suffering myself. but just doing the right thing as it always works out for the best.i will post the london number and you can find out the nearest place to go.Helpline 020 7403 0888.all the very best to you barbara i really do hope that you go to ala non as it will help you and support you through everything that your going through. love grace xoxoxo
