Hi, i was diagnosed with liver cirrohis just over three yrs ago. I have not touched a drop of alcohol. I had the swelling and ascites but since being diagnosed, I've not had a single follow up regarding my liver. I have developed gallstones and will need my gallbladder removed but I was told it was nothing. Have I been forgotten or is this the norm??

I cannot understand it. As far as I can see, you should be getting regular out patient assessments of your cirrhosis.
Well I am a bit baffled do you have any symptoms etc I'd ask for a appointment with your consultant as I don't think you've been treated very good to be honest you need answers from a professional x
You should be under a oncologist
No symptoms that I'm aware of lol. Nobody has told me anything. Not even seen a dietician or talked too in what to expect. I go to my GP and they refer me and then I hear nothing. I did see someone regarding my bladder and that's when they diagnosed my hernia and gallstones.
you should be having ultrasounds to monitor your liver
That's bad you need to be monitored by a consultant, having 6 monthly scans and blood tests. Who and how was your cirrhosis diagnosed? Do you still have ascites? Were you admitted at any point if so contact that consultant. You shouldn't have been left you might have slipped through the net, def get in touch with someone. Good luck and keep us posted.
My diagnosis was made after waking up looking 9 months pregnant!! I went to my GP who sent me straight to the hospital. I was admitted and drained, biopsy told it was cirrohis and that was it. I went to my GP and was diagnosed with urinary urgency and while there, discovered a hernia and gallstones.
Odd story. Have you had any ongoing contact with your GP - s/he would be the first point of referral for a specialist. Who diagnosed your gallstone condition? That person would almost certainly be interested in following up the original cirrhosis diagnosis. I think first steps would be to go to your GP for an update: you can raise all of the issues there. Ask for a longer consultation so that you signal to them that you have a number of concerns. Before you go, make a list. There may be some merit in taking someone with you.
I went to my GP with bladder problems and while they looked into that, they found a hernia and gallstones. I have been told that they will remove my gallbladder as it may cause trouble in 20yrs time, this confused me as I was given a life expectancy of 2-5 yrs.
That's disgusting you need to make noises and demand the treatment you deserve. Contact your MP over this.
I am in the same boat as you but I get regular ultrasounds apart from checking your liver hasn't detoriated it also gives me great peace of mind. Fight back and good luck
I would definatley contact the doctors you should have regular follow ups for cirrohiss at least every six months, how did you get rid of the acites by the way. Annette
I was drained and now on spironolactone which they said they were pleased with.
