Hi AllI have been diagnosed with NAFLD in Feb this year and fibroscan showed that my liver was cirrosed .
All a massive shock and apart from being told health eating and look after diabetes ( type 2 ) .
I've got intermittent right upper side pain , is that what should be expected ? Also have a gallstone but that isn't blocking bile duck or anything .I guess I just wanted to say hi and see if anyone can tell me anything else ???
Thanks

Yes it is a shock. One minute you think you're fine and then 'poof' you have all sorts of questions and concerns. I'm going through the same thing. Getting a biopsy in 2 days and diagnosis a week later. I am writing everything down when questions pop in my head. Best of luck and thinking of you.
Hi, I have NAFLD too, it is a massive shock. I don’t have cirrhosis. I did have right sided pain but after overhauling my shocking diet and exercise and losing weight the pain went. I am lucky in that my liver disease is reversible. If you need to lose weight then do so, eat healthily, nothing processed or white ie: swap white bread for whole meal, white rice for brown, eat veg and fish and chicken/turkey, exercise every day and you will feel better and your liver will thank you for it. I don’t drink alcohol, my damage is through not looking after myself properly. Try not to worry and focus on being as healthy as you can be. I am sure other members will be here soon to offer advice. Best of luck, Owlie
I was also diagnosed in February, it was horrific emotionally. I'm still waiting to see a specialist to find out the extent of my damage. I got a Fib 4 score but no idea what it means! I also have pain, fatigue, itchy hands and feet and my hair is falling out. Until I know what I'm dealing with I am following the good advice found on here, you will get lots of help and ideas. I have changed my diet and have an hour walk most days. Good luck with your healthy eating, get that sorted and your diabetes should stay well managed too xx
Yes, I was diagnosed last year. Fibroscan showed moderate to severe Fibrosis so Hepatologist ordered a biopsy which showed NASH with Moderate to Severe Fibrosis on a background of Acute Hepatitis. Need to lose weight but apart from that I've been told nothing and my latest appointment was cancelled due the current crisis.
That is so tough. Sit down and write down all the questions you have. Then call the office and ask for a video meeting. I had to call the hospitals public relations to get things rolling ! Sad that it has to come to that, but advocate +++
Hello and welcome to this friendly forum !
I am sure you will get lots of support here.
I have included a link to the British Liver Trust Publications, which may help you to understand your diagnoses.
I was diagnosed out of the blue just over 2 years ago, I had repeated chest infections my bloods were all off, I itched all over felt nauseous most of the time yet my liver function test did not indicate a problem.
I went to see a specialist who diagnosed NAFLD and cirrhosis, I was in total shock was told that I was teetotal from that day for the rest of my life (Yes I was a drinker but infrequently but by definition a binge drinker)
Anyway I went away joined this group and British Liver Trust and bought some books to try and understand what I was dealing with. One of the things was a move away from all processed foods something my wife has risen to the challenge marvellously. Anyway I needed treatment for some issues that were complications of liver disease, I have 6 monthly ultra sound scans. My specialist has now told me that my liver has reduced in size is well compensated although the cirrhosis is something that won't repair itself.
So take little steps make changes in diet and lifestyle, use your hospital team as a resource and seek knowledge so you can understand what and why you're doing things
