Around 14 months ago after some routine blood tests I was diagnosed with anaemia & a low platelet count ( 92 )...my GP sent me for various scans & tests were we played chase the platlelets...ending up with the liver specialist saying that they thought it was cirrhosis causing an enlarged spleen that was hoovering up the platelets...He advised me to stop drinking alcohol...eat more healthily & excersise regularly which I have been doing for 6 months ....in that time my liver has regenerated quite a lot..the spleen has reduced in size to almost normal..I have lost 10Kilos in weight & look & feel better than I have felt in 30 years.....So why has the platelet count gone down to ( 76 )....It is my understanding that some medications can cause this type of problem especially high blood pressure pills which is part of my daily routine...so my question to you all is..." Are my life saving pills killing me "?????.....

Hi, just a thought, you might need your blood pressure pill dosage adjusted since you lost 10 kilos. But, please check in with your doctors regarding the low platelets.
My grandmother had abnormal platelet readings and it turned out to be leukemia. They caught it early and she is responding to the medications. Good thing they caught it early!
