coarse echotexture of liver, mild sclel... - British Liver Trust
coarse echotexture of liver, mild sclelomegaly, no evidence of ihbd
Best to wait for a doctors review of the scan to interpret terms for you and their significance - a diagnosis is made based on a combination of any scans, biopsies and blood results so just a few words from a scan report could cause misunderstanding.
Course echo texture of the liver might indicate fibrosis or cirrhosis - just means liver isn't the smooth texture a healthy liver would be. IHBD is the Intrahepatic Bile Duct what the no evidence of IHBD means i've no idea - there is a condition of the liver called Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) which is a disease of the bile ducts that causes inflammation and obliterative fibrosis of bile ducts inside and/or outside of the liver. I am wondering if the mild scleromegaly has something to do with this and that is why there is something going on with his bile ducts.
You will drive yourself mad looking to interpret medical terms without the medical knowledge - hopefully your father has a follow up appointment shortly to help you understand what is going on. In the mean time (and this is easy to say) try not to panic as it won't do either of you any good.
All the very best, Katie x
