Hello everyone, I have been asked to have a blood test where I mustn't eat meat for 24 hours before hand. I have tried to find out the reason for this and what they are looking for but can't find anything definitive. Has anyone had this test and do you know the reason for the test.
Best Regards
Rachel

I wonder if it is a test whereby they are looking at protein and/or toxin levels, some people with liver issues get build up of toxins if they eat too much red meat. Only a thought and may be totally wrong.
Hi Everyone, I found out today what the test was - it is an estimated glomerular filtration test which is used to assess how well your kidneys are working.
I have that calculated most times I have full blood count, liver panel and bone profile done. Never been told not to eat meat, or in fact never been told not to eat before test!
