Blood test.

So i see so many doctors. I have sle lupus, CRPS. But they did some other blood work and i keep getting more blood work. And my speciality doctor do explain things well. Atleast not to where i understand. So if any one has any imput to what a couple of these mean for one my

1)ALKALINE PHOSPHATE IS HIGH

2) MY ALT IS HIGH

3)MY AST IS NORMAL ( THIS TIME)

AND USALLY ITS EITHER MY ALT IS HIGH AND AST IS NORMAL OR AST IS HIGH AND ALT IS NORMAL

4)WBC HIGH

5) SQUAMOUS EPITHELIUM HIGH

6) AYALINE CAST HIGH

7) OF COURSE FOR MY ANA PATTER TITER IS HOMOGENEOUS

8) PLATELET COUNT HIGH

9) C-REACTIVE protein is high.

I have more test that shows high but those i do understand. But

I dont understand most of these new blood work. I guess mostly #2 &#3 i dont get. I am not sure what those are . I dont drink alcohol never really did.and i have no idea what #5 or #6 is.

And when i see my doctor he talks about alcohol. But i keep saying i dont drink . But that question keeps coming up for alt and ast.

I am so confused about all this. And i live in vegas . Belive it or not there isnt very many rheumatologist doctors here. And one of my other doctors i see that did not order my blood work but she cant explain my recent blood work to me because she dont know what any of this mean.

But i feel so crappy pain like crazy, but cant seem to get answers.

So i came to this sight to see if anyone has similar blood test. I know no one on here are doctors but maybe there is someone out here are experiencing these things. And maybe share alittle of their knowledge.

Just gets fustrating when i keep getting more blood work more test and no Layman explanation.

Mahalo🤙🏽🌺 & blessings to all.

Hello Batalona69,

Good morning and welcome to the forum where you will be able to get advice and support from others with experience of liver disease.

However, this is not a medical forum and none of the forum members are qualified to diagnose or give specific medical advice.

This would be against the rules of both the forum and Health Unlocked. These guidelines are set out in detail in the link at the end of this post.

The British Liver Trust asks that users do NOT post any test results, scans or ask for specific comment on such.

Test results vary according to both the individual’s whole health and the specific laboratory analysing the results. Test results can only properly be understood by qualified practitioner with full knowledge of the past medical history and any accompanying health conditions.

To avoid misinterpretation and undue concerns, results should only be interpreted by the user’s own doctors.

Please don’t be discouraged from using the forum as there are members with a great deal of understanding and knowledge of living with liver disease as a patient or carer.

They are here to give you the benefit of that experience and knowledge with the understanding and empathy that can only come from those with first hand involvement.

Yours,

Volunteer Moderator

Hi Batalona69, as you don't drink and yet have high liver inflammation markers PLUS you already have auto-immune conditions it might be worth asking doctors to run tests for auto-immune liver diseases such as auto-immune hepatitis. There are similarities in symptoms of lupus and AIH but there are blood tests and perhaps a liver biopsy which could differentiate and tell you whether you also have a liver issue going on. My hubby is tea-total (for life) and yet has cirrhosis due to AIH.

Its a hepatologist that you need to see for issues with the liver.

All the best,

Katie

Hi

Lupus UK also have a forum on here that you may find useful.

healthunlocked.com/lupusuk

Just looking at your list:

The ALT, AST and Alkaline Phosphatase are enzymes produced by the liver when it is under insult. The cause of that insult could be many many things from a simple infection, the drugs you take for your other condition or your other conditions themselves. They are pretty routine tests to monitor both you, the affects of any meds you take or the disease itself. I don't have Lupus but was under Rhuematologists for a time for other conditions i have and these were pretty standard tests that were done. Its really something that they would use to flag up whether they may need to do other investigations or review how they are currently managing you.

Do you give a urine sample when you go to your clinic appointments. Some of the other things you list are generally picked up from a urine sample rather than a blood sample. Once again there are numerous causes of those, some relate to the progression or extent of your lupus whilst others can again be caused by simple things such as an infection. As with the other tests its really about monitoring you and your disease.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

As our volunteer moderator has already posted, this is not a medical forum and none of the forum members are qualified to diagnose or give specific medical advice. Please see our pinned community guidlines.

We would suggest you see your own doctors for accurate interpretation of your test results and further medical guidance,

Best wishes,

hi if you have lupus your immune will attack different organs at different times I have had my lungs my heart and my pancreas and liver attacked over and over but always a different organ all the time and depending on what organ it is attacking will depend on what your blood work says so if its high ast alt maybe its now attacking the liver. that's my scenario anyway my immune does not like anything in my body and my blood work all over high.
