He has been transferred to the ward now... He has low platelets and kidneys are still on the blink trying to clear all the extra fluid retention...
He hit a real low today and feels so depressed, they think morphine may still be in his system so causing this... He has said he hears music every now and again?

Glad to hear he is on the ward now. Recovery is like baby steps we chatted with a guy who was post transplant, one day he could walk all the stairs during his physio and the next none at all - it will all take time but he's on the road the road to recovery and he's in the best place. The kidney issue is very common so I believe and the mood issues too, he has been on some serious drugs what with the anaesthetic then the pain meds. Mood bound to be up and down, we've been advised its a real emotional roller coaster and the steroids contribute to that too.
It's great to hear of your journey, this time last week you were waiting in limbo, would that call come in time? a week later he's had it and is making progress.

Thank you for your words of encouragement... You are absolutely right... With one tumour out of the way and more potentially to come - we were in real turmoil as to what to expect... With all the preparations in the world, you still have endless worries and anxieties... I am so thankful, I have met some other ITU families and their compassion and love has been super fantastic...
without them around I'm not sure how I would have coped...
I have developed stomach problems etc all due to stress...

I heard Please release me let me go for over 3 weeks...wonder if surgeons listen to music during op? I thought I was going mad..morphine etc takes ages to get out of your system. Medication doesn't help either..my hubby doesn't know which me will get up in a morning. Stay strong he will get there x
Good to hear updates, Pear. The impact of medications, particularly morphine, can be severe. I had audio hallucinations for 2 nights - very vivid experiences and disturbing enough for me to mention to the consultant who then prescribed sleeping tablets in addition to pain killers. These caused me to have full blown dream states in which I was out of bed and telling nurses what to do to manage the ward. I think some mental disturbance is not uncommon in patients who have had lots of pain control.
I hope he continues to improve and that you continue to update us on his journey.

Hi there. He will get better. I had some terrible nightmares due to all the drugs and also heard music. I thought, when I was on ICU, that I was in a hospital on Blackpool prom and there was a disco dj frog in the 'bubble' next to me. Weird or what. Also when back on the ward I was do full of fluid I was like a beached whale. It was terrible but managed to keep positive through it. The nurses had problems finding a vein for bloods as I was so big. Got them to get a mobile scanner so they could find veins before digging away. Oww. I also got a throat infection (quite common) couldn't eat or take tablets. If this happens ask for a tube down nose, not nice but when in it works and the nurses can also put all the meds down it too, including the nasty tasting ones. It does get better just keep being positive

The kidneys are under careful watch and may need a boost with 1 session of dialysis.

Very emotional, keeps, bursting into tears, although has been looking at positives...
I thank God every minute for giving us this chance at life again, I also pray for all the ill people and their families...
When I ticked the donor box I didn't really think about it, I now realise what an important and poignant thing it is...
I hope that this New Year brings lots more joy as everyone waiting gets that all important call...
