Good Morning,

High amounts of copper in your urine could indicate a couple of things and so it does need to be looked into further, your copper level can rise if you have inflammation in the body, an infection or it could indicate a condition called Wilsons disease (a condition where copper builds up in the liver as your body is unable to excrete (get rid of) it properly).

Did you have any blood tests done? If not I would suggest asking your GP to do some liver function tests (LFTs), which can give a better picture of what is going on.

Have you eaten anything different or a lot of something more than normal? Are you taking any supplements?

What has your GP said?

If you start to feel unwell, I would suggest going to A&E and explaining to them your symptoms and results.

Kind regards

My GP wants to biopsy my liver. I have gotten a fibrotest and fibroscan, and while i am not sure how reliable these tests are they both say i have no fibrosis and liver is in generally good health. however my bilirubin, ast and alt were elevated, and something called ceruloplasma? was very low at .16

Good Afternoon,

A Fibroscan test does give a good indication of your liver health as it measures the stiffness of your liver – the stiffer the liver the more damage there is. It is a good sign that these tests came back ok however, your complete liver information (all test and medical history) need to be taken in to account to be able to provide a diagnosis.

Your GP should not be asking for a biopsy of your liver, this needs to done by a liver specialist as it is a test that carries risks and you may not need it. I would ask your GP for a referral to your local specialist for further investigations

Kind regards

Sandy
