Have they said what the degree of fibrosis of the liver is? The outlook for Autoimmune hepatitis is usually quite good if caught early.

The standard treatment is drugs to tamp down the immune system (cortico steroids such as Prednisolone - which are not the muscle building ones- and Azathioprene) and moderate the amount of inflammation of the liver - giving it a chance to regenerate. If you don't have full blown cirrhosis the prospects are usually quite good.

If you have any specific questions please ask. If you research on the net bear in mind that discussions of AIH can encompass a wide range of symptoms/outcomes depending on what stage it's caught at.

Best of luck.

Hi Momamabell, as well as this site there is a specific AIH support website, forum and now a closed facebook page @ autoimmunehepatitis.org.uk/ . The members of it, indeed the organizers of it too are all really good at sharing their information and expertise and hopefully you'd find more information from them.

All the best to you, Katie :)
