I'm so sorry for you. I was diagnosed with AIH three months ago but don't have your problem. There is a very good aih group on facebook where you will find lots of information and maybe someone will be able to help you with the cramps.

I was diagnosed with AIH and PBC in April 2014. I have a reasonable quality of life although unable to work,I am also anaemic which makes me very tired and suffer with swollen legs

Where do you have the cramps, when is it worse,I may be able to help as I suffered a lot with similar, what is your diet like ? Sorry to ask so many questions but I will try to help. Also what meds are you taking ?

Hi

I've had AIH for nearly 4 months now and was suffering from cramps in lower legs, as my preds have come down the cramps seems to have died down, I'm on 10mg of preds now so hopefully the same will happen to you.

Have you tried taking a supplement of Calc! Magnesium and Zinc. Magnesium is often deficient , and potassium too. I take the supplement and eat a banana a day to make sure I get potassium.

I too get the cramps I was told it was a potassium shortage. To stop the cramp I eat plenty of fish dairy, amd bananas but for rapid relief one teaspoon of lo sodium salt in a glass of warm water usually does the job.

I think you also need to make sure you are taking Vitamin D3 with Calcium. This can be prescribed and it is called: AdCal

I have not experience of the condition you suffer so I am sure the other people above will be able to help you far more. However, as you are bed-ridden, as I am, you will not be getting the necessary daily daylight requirement from going outside. You will just feel lower and lower until you get onto the above prescribed medication.

I have had Hepatitis C since 1974 but your condition is very different in comparison to mine. I hope someone will be able to help you.
