If you are unfit for work and your doctor will give you a sick line to that effect then you should put in a claim.

My hubby who has cirrhosis with some auto-immune cause got it without issue but you do have to fill the form in with as much information as you can provide re. appointments, daily symptoms (as per your worst day) and such like. Some folks get called for a face to face appointment with ATOS or whichever other agency performs these checks in your area though hubby hasn't had one of those for ESA (just for his PIP claim). You want to be in the support group not work group if you are seriously unwell. It is means tested regarding your level of savings and if you've a partner then their work hours and earnings are taken into account.

Hope that helps, good look with your claim.

Katie :)

Yeah I would agree with Ayrshire. It depends on how it effects your ability to work just the same as any other illness or disability, it doesn't matter what you've got. All the best.

Yes your diagnosis had nothing to do with it because some people can be badly affected while others have few symptoms. What they will want to know is what effect your condition has on your daily life. Remember that includes any psychological effects eg depression. I would also say find a disability rights group near you and ask them to fill forms with you - they are more likely to be honest about your condition - its amazing how much e hold back on because we don't talk about it. Good luck
