NRC 10k plan: Today’s 3k run (AKA “A1 yellow tiger” run!)

Is there anything better than a complete fresh start on January 1st? Whatever’s gone before doesn’t matter. Today, a new year begins and so does my Nike Run Club 10k plan. The first run is called “Today’s 3k Run” and it’s a Coach Bennett classic. Comfortably paced with questions to think about every few minutes.

I really enjoyed this run. The weather helped…actual sunshine for the first time in ages. The ground was still really wet and a lot of mud had come from the fields onto the lane. That made it quite slippery at times and I had to concentrate quite hard. 3km is a nice distance for me. Long enough to warm up and get into a rhythm but short enough to fit in to a busy day.

I won’t give away all the things Coach B asks you to think about because I think the fun of these runs is that you don’t know what’s coming up. All I’m saying is my favourite part of the run was a few quick fire questions thinking about what sorts of things it might be if it was a colour, animal etc. It made me realise how positive I’m feeling at the start of this new journey. The place I most wanted to be? Exactly where I was. Happy days!

Bring on the next one now!

It’s a fun one! I like 3k (I did a little more because my route ended up in a silly place) and I like the runs with regular questions to think about. I’m sure you’ll enjoy!

I did 3k too, was thinking it could be my first 10k Plan run but having read your report I think I'd be missing out 😁

It’s a nice one that would fit well as a short, nothing special, just going for a normal run run. Have fun with it!
