any tips/websites or apps for finding running routes in unfamiliar places?

I’m in Ghent for the weekend and brought my running gear.

I’m quite happy to just run and see where I go but having tried that in the past and ended up in dead ends, dodgy streets I’m also happy to see if there are any suggestions for apps or websites that give a nice running friendly route..

If you go online search strava heat maps and you'll see popular routes. Or I use All trails but that's for more rural stuff I think.' Plot a route' allows you to create and measure your own route but also has local saved routes available to look at. Local councils often have walks listed which can be run.... Good luck and hope you get a nice route!

I tried googling "running club in ghent" which came up with a few options for both clubs (who might be helpful) and suggested routes.

Variation on SkiMonday 's suggestion - googling "Ghent running routes" produces lots of results.

It often takes someone with a slightly different perspective to spot a solution which, with hindsight, seems obvious.

We had a weekend in Ghent recently and it's a beautiful town, you will enjoy it. The old centre is pretty crowded so the best bet would be to run along one of the canals a bit further out. We walked to the Museum Dr Guislain and the Groendreef street near there was quiet, long and straight plus near water.
