A Sunny morning 5K πŸŒžπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

It has been a while again since my last run for several reasons which I will not go into here but today everything was in synch once again and the weather was too good to miss.

It was bright, dry and 4 degrees when I went out at just before 8:30.

I decided not to use an NRC run and also not to watch my watch !

I set off with Pink Floyd's ' Meddle' on my playlist and appropriately, 'Breathe' was the first track ! Always a good idea as you start to run ! 😁

So once I set off I didn't look at my watch at all .

I set my pace simply by my breathing and kept the entire run at a conversational pace.

It actually felt so much more relaxed without looking at splits .

I was simply running by feel , enjoying the music and enjoying the weather and surroundings.

The crazy thing is when I got to what I know is 5K and looked at my watch I was surprised to see it was a very similar time to my previous recent 5K's but without the pressure!

There's a lesson there surely!

Back home , stretches done and porridge eaten !

And Misty my cat looking at me as though to say , Where have you been ! ? 😁

Now for a relaxing bath before a 1.5 hour driving lesson after lunch !

Happy running !

Nice run for you today Instructor57, glad you enjoyed it without any pressure, I like your 🎢 music choice of Pink Floyd, great music to have a great relaxing run, as for me, I didn't go to parkrun today instead I ran a short 3K after running my 89th (not) parkrun on Wednesday.

Beautiful morning for running and a beautiful way to run. Misty is beautiful too, even if she is miffed by your wrecking of her routine.

Thank you !Yes I enjoyed that one but next time I need to get Misty's permission before I go out and make sure she has had breakfast first 🀣

Did you realise that Larry, the No. 10 Downing Street cat has a Twitter Account, he's been there for 11 years.

GailXrunning profile image
GailXrunningβ€’ in reply toAlMorr

Do tell: is Larry always served breakfast first? And before anyone does anything else? This includes going for a run. And does Misty tweet her deep concerns with the drop in service quality?πŸ™€πŸ™€

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10β€’ in reply toGailXrunning

Larry the cat is by far the most important occupier of No. 10 Downing Street, far more important than any human who lives there, I am sure the first thing anyone does is to give Larry his breakfast.

Well done, I agree it's a good idea not to look at tech while running as it can free us up to just run! That sounds like a great run!

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10

Thanks !The thing is I absolutely know this but sometimes you just get sucked into the numbers game and it can be such a waste of an enjoyable run.

But I guess we all want different things from our runs so horses for courses I guess 😁

Definitely on my longer runs I barely look at the watch, and that's only usually to find out what time it is.

Towards the end it's to see how much it reckons I have left of the scheduled distance.

On shorter runs I'll glance to check that I'm not going too fast.

Well done for getting in a (not) parkrun today.

Yes, I tend to look less the longer the run (not that I've done any long ones for a while) hope to start getting some in soon 🀞

Great you got out there Ian 😊. There’s something really liberating about not looking at Mr. Garmin - I try not to but he’s sneaky. It’s been perfect running weather the past few days, long may it last! 😊😊😊

Excellent! It’s a beautiful sunny day here in Dumfries and you’ve really got me excited about going out and doing the same thing. Putting some music on (good choice by the way) and just taking in the surroundings! Well done on your run that sounds like an exceptionally good one!

Great post! I read it and it helped me get out the door and run today, so thanks! I haven’t managed to get out for 5 days and had been putting it off. Today I went out and focused on the scenery and the beautiful spring weather and not on the time. It worked well πŸ˜„

Maybe Misty was wondering why you exhaust yourself when ending up at the same spot as where you began, haha. Sounds like you had a good, relaxing run. One of those runs to remember and take lessons from when having a hard run!

Trying!! Never one to give up!! I really enjoyed my run yesterday. Back out in the woods with the sun shining!! Slowβ€¦πŸ˜‚β€¦but Bliss! Happy to start from where I am. Non-stop, so I was very happy with that indeed. There is still life in the old girls legs! Just needed a reminder! 🀣🀣❀️
