Needing a nap!

Do other people feel they need an afternoon nap after a morning (6k) run? Ok, so I ran 5k (slow) yesterday and 6k (even slower) this morning and have never done back-to-back runs like this, but it is fairly typical for me to do a longer run at a weekend then go to my local gym and do an hour's yoga class. At a weekend I often feel the need for a nap on a run day. I have a homemade healthy protein shake after my run (and had porridge and chai seeds etc after the yoga class). I do work extremely hard and have long days in the week. Run usually 3x a week. Do you experience the nap effect?

I am a post long run napper!! It is just like putting a baby down to rest; shower, hot drink, food, sit in an arm chair…..gone 💤.

I love a nap! Just had one - and I didn’t even run today 🤣. I can’t nap after a run during the week, that little thing called work makes it impossible, but more often than not I will at the weekend after a run. I think getting up early to beat warmer weather probably has something to do with it too. Can’t beat a bit of nap power! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️💤💤💤

I found last week after parkrun, that I was good for a couple of hours of further activity then crashed just after lunchtime. The rain coming in that afternoon didn't help my sudden taupor.

This week, I've done a lot of activity so far: two 10km runs, two 2 mile runs, a 12km walk and parkrun this morning (5km). If I do the planned run tomorrow, I'll have done 41km of running alone this week. What's happened to me this last year? 🤣

Definitely we are both known to doze off on the couch after a run a few hours later and if there’s things i have to do on a day off such as shopping i either do them before or straight after because once we’ve settled back at home had a bath and got into clean clothes we might not do anything else for a while, a fun memory during last years lock down was turning up for a bank appointment in shorts and tee dripping wet from a rainy run. The longer the run the longer the afternoon nap

I'm a weekend post run afternoon napper (I also have the occasional post work nap during the week ) I put both down to the effect of being able to relax after either a stressful day or a good run!

Ooh gosh, this post, makes me think my wee afternoon nap last week should be a regular occurrence, and maybe beneficial 😂

But definitely now my runs are hours longer ..weekly, monthly.. and upping the strength training.. I'm really tired in the afternoon...

I eat healthy (vegan) .. binge on cake maybe too often 😂

If you need nap , can fit it in.. then Zzzz 🛌 🥰

I crashed for an hour solid this afternoon after my Parkrun this morning. I was really tired. Explains why I’m up so late on HU instead of asleep right now. 😅😂

I wish!Got back from a 10k this morning and it was time to take the 1 year old grandson to the park.

Then my wife needed some help with an online presentation. Then it was park time again.

Now it's late afternoon and l am having a cuppa before getting organised for another strenuous day tomorrow.

A nap would have been great.

I often take a nap in the afternoons, even without a run and I am 'only' 40. Not the healthiest person though (got arthritis) and on some heavy meds, so might have to do with that too...

Thank you all for the wonderful replies. I am suitably reassured to find I am not alone in the after long run afternoon naps at the weekend. Yes, it is amazing how relaxed you can feel an hour or two after a good run. And, me too, as for doing much during the day after a longish run it is basics only! Thank you 😊
