Today was overcast and humid and at 6 a.m. the forecast was rain within the hour. Quickly is not something I can always do at that time of the day, but I finished my cuppa fairly smartish and got on with the business of getting ready as quietly as I could! My brother would be getting up soon, so if I wanted to avoid the chitter chatter I needed to be gone.

Shorts and t-shirt, headphones, sports glasses, wrist cuff for key and trademark sun visor, mobile and watch synced and I’m ready with minimal faffing about. Quick look in the mirror, of course. Yes, pretty gorgeous even though it’s early; my hair is only sticking out in one or two places as it needs cutting 😊

Quietly leave the house and start my warm up walk. Pants! I’ve forgotten my leg swings, so stop to do them in the street. I just don’t care πŸ˜‚

I had already programmed into the Garmin the workout that I’m going to follow; the same as last week. I now know that once the workout has finished, my watch will keep on going until I stop the run. This fooled me last week as I had thought it would stop automatically.

I start the workout. I’m running for 45 seconds, walking for 30 seconds. I noticed that last week, my first running interval was far too slow, so I try and run at a reasonable pace.

The run carries on and I realised that I’m working a bit harder than I had intended. It must be due to the humidity and the air quality, which was only β€˜fair’. I follow my normal route, running and walking. I can swipe the watch face to see how many kms I have run and how long I have been running for. I hadn’t realised I could do this, so it was a bit of an β€˜aha!’ moment! My workout just carries on in the background and still alerts me when I need to run or walk. I can swipe between the two.

I see a number of familiar faces on this run and everybody greets me, now it’s more like β€˜Hi!’ rather than β€˜Good morning’. Runners of all shapes and sizes, men and women. There is a little traffic, but not much and I’m able to run on the road for most of the time, although I have to take care with parked cars. It’s very built up here. The Red Kites were calling early this morning, I heard them before I left the house. I saw them all the way round my circular route and occasionally noticed other birds panicking to get out of their line of sight when they were flying lower. They do occasionally take out smaller birds if they’re hungry.

Towards the end I reach a T junction and decide to turn left for the 4K as I’m tiring. As I approach my Dad’s house, I decide to run through the last walking break, leading me to the downhill section. I haven’t got enough left in the tank to speed up much, but I pull out a stop or two! I notice when I reach 30 minutes but carry on a few more seconds for the 4K.

Done and dusted, home for coffee and stretches! I’m pleased that I beat the rain, but after a while I realise that the rain didn’t materialise anyway! My brother’s up and having breakfast, so there’s even time for a bit of chitter chatter πŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

Wow those are super splits πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ well done, it sounds like a great run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ thanks for the tip about swiping to see the distance, I didn't know you could do that either πŸ‘

Thanks, Beatles! I didn’t know either until I did it by mistake. πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Great run, well done getting quickly out this morning. Very high humidity today- we could do with a good downpour to clear it. Happy running πŸ€—

Thanks, Grannyhugs, yes a good downpour to clear this humidity would be great! πŸ‘

Hello Jools2020, The similarity of our running days, setting off time and data do seem such fun to me! As I have probably already mentioned little things please little minds. 😊I left the house soon after 6am, Garmin tells me my run began at 6:10am. I chose initially to use just the tendon sleeve, but after I put it on and immediately changed my mind. No knee support either as I felt confident that my knee was up to a gentle run without it. Minimal tendon pain and no knee trouble at all. 😊

Data 3.92km 31m 05s 7:56min/km 125bpm elevation gain just 20m VO2max 40 Couldn't resist a number of photo opportunities trying to capture the poppy field and the sheep, which as I said before is bound to bring my heart rate down.

The run felt good, so it seems my tendon support purchase was not a good idea, whereas my knee support has been of great help.

Intriguing that you saw a number of familiar faces on your run at that early time. I may only have passed one person.

Happy injury free running to you. πŸ˜ŠπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Haha, yes, my run began at 6:11 😊 although your heart rate stayed lower than mine!

Good that you had no problems this morning! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

I notice you're still getting the trademark negative splits in. 🀣

Purely accidental as I’m not looking at the splits when I’m running, too busy concentrating on the intervals! 😊

Thanks, Lottie! I’m only up then because I’m not feeling well, so might as well use that to run early if it’s hot!
