Still enjoying short runs

Hello fellow runners!

Bank holiday weekend and I’ve got 3 days off!!

We are outside picnicking with family later so up early and made a cake.

Some faffing about with cleaning behind the cooker and levelling it and I found those “you won’t have time at this rate” gremlins behind the cooker.

Didn’t listen to them, co ordinated our NRC app put our music on and one and a half times round the industrial estate. Not pretty very few trees or grass but quiet,

I do like the guided runs on NRC and will stick with the 20 minute runs because then we can run on consecutive days if we want to.

Sky was blue, air was cool on our shoulders to start with,

Have a great weekend all

Oh and I don’t know if I mentioned before the dreaded Health and Safety Audit, but I got 97% so am pretty chuffed 😀

Congratulations on that 97% Health and Safety Audit, that will make your holiday weekend even better, I am glad that you like those 20 minutes runs on consecutive days, I am not sure if you have ran on consecutive days at any time.

I graduated almost 3 years ago from C25K, then ran a few months later a 10K and got Graduate10 next to my username and last year I ran 10 miles and got 10miles next to my username, but despite all that running I have never ran on consecutive days.

Thanks Al, I’ve found if we do a short run we can run a few runs in a row without problems, at the moment still recovering from last weeks cold from hell short runs are all we can manage, I still have blocked sinuses with the accompanying headache but I’ve worked loads lately between others having sick leave, and trying to make sure everything was in order for the health and safety and to my thinking if I can go to work I deserve a nice run You are very much faster than us too, I’m sure if I pushed myself to be faster I’d need more rest days

Have a great weekend

You inspired me to finally try NRC. I've had serious gremlin trouble of late and motivation has been a real issue. But your posts about consecutive 20 minute runs made me sit up and listen. So I did ur 20 minute guided run with Coach Cory and it was great! So thanks for your posts - really helped!!!

Well done for getting out there and doing your run lol love the fact that you was cleaning behind the cooker beforehand!! That Reminded me if my uni days and the dreaded dissertation when I would literally do anything before settling down to write.

Take care and enjoy time off I am working the whole bank holiday weekend but keep reminding myself it is great that I can!!!

Thank you, it was great to see them after so long, I always have had that do something else to put it off thing, like your dissertation if I had something important to do I’d do all sorts of things first. Thank you for your kind words re the health and safety, I fell down on not having a risk assessment for the pond that the woman didn’t mention last time, we went and looked at it and i said it’s not much bigger than a bucket and i think the fish are long gone so would empty it, she did say she’d take it off so as it was the only red thing the score might be even higher, anyway phew she’s not back for 2 years 😂

Cleaning behind the cooker - well, what can I say?

Great that you are loving those short runs 😁👍

My cakes are always a bit crooked, i’ve known the cooker wasn’t level for ages, today was the day O decided to pull the cooker out and adjust the legs, well! you should have seen it behind there, it hasn’t been out fir ages, had to be done 😀

Well done W&S 😊 on the running and also on your audit Sola. Must be both satisfying to have done so well and great to have it out if the way.

I did another NRC run this morning. I’m so glad I downloaded the app. I love the motivational chats and music as I run. Enjoy your cake. I think you’ve deserved it. 🧁 😋

The cake was for children. Thank you and yes very satisfying as well as knowing in 2 years time when she comes back again I could be retired.

I’m loving the guided runs and enthused to run another tomorrow

Ooh, well done for the audit, the cake and the run! And for beating the gremlins. If my gremlins hid behind the cooker, they’d be safe there for ever 😊.

Sounds like the 20 minute guided runs are suiting you just fine!

Thanks, yes we both like the shorter runs, my sinuses are still blocked from the cold but the run cleared them for a while, the kids enjoyed the cake, I don’t know why i was compelled to sort the cooker out today but glad I did, I fried Willow an egg this evening and it stayed where i put it in the pan I have gremlins all over the place

Well done for beating off the gremlins 👍👹

You can always tell when I have anything I should be doing...the ironing pile goes down 😂

I’m seeing my 2 Welsh grandsons tomorrow...x2 birthdays this week. I haven’t seen my English grandchildren since September though ☹️

...and super well done on your audit!

Thank you, seeing family after a break is super special I expected shyness from the three and a half yes one and when we arrived she ran straight for us, bypassed grandad Willow came and gave me a huge hug and kiss and said “we saved you some food” not seen her since October. Oh I love ironing but yes there’s always something to do to put things off 😀

LottieMW profile image
LottieMWAmbassador in reply toSueAppleRun

I’ll send my ironing to you then! Mine are all ‘awkward’ teenagers...or nearly teenagers...L is 14 tomorrow, he’s the runner. D (rugby) is 12 next week. In England, P is 17 (she takes fab sporty photos), and C will be 14 in 3 weeks. He’s just played his first football match for Sussex.

Wow, that’s impressive! I have 2 eighteen year olds 2 sixteen year olds, the little ones are Willows but they are all ours, having had a neat family of 2 children it came as a shock to be engulfed in Willow’s 5 children and now 2 little grands we get to have big family get together s and have done camping trips with almost all of them! that’s very interesting lol 😂

Oh and i’m happy to do anyone’s ironing 😂

LottieMW profile image
LottieMWAmbassador in reply toSueAppleRun

Haha...you’re on for the ironing then 😂

Sounds like you have a big happy family there...Lockdown must have been really hard for you all 💕💕💕

The hardest part was London going into tier 4 just before Christmas at short notice and boxing day cancelled, we did a mad, wrap, label, dash and deliver and got over the border just before midnight My children are local but yes, seen very much less of them in the last year and winter weather only the odd social distanced walk, daughter and family had covid in the summer us early spring and very glad we had kept apart really
