Unbelievably, I have managed to run 10 miles this morning! After accidentally stopping 500m short a couple of weeks ago (tragic! ☹️), I was determined to get out today and finish the job! Started well, did the 1st half with a friend, then I had to get myself back on higher ground to finish off. Nearly finished me off!! I got to 12k and I nearly gave up, my legs were so heavy. Got myself up to the uni sports pitches, where you can do flat loops of about 800m and even that hurt. Anyway the long and short of it is that I managed it! 😀 Have had a long soak in Epsom salts and am enjoying some sitting now...no intention of doing anything else today!!
TEN WHOLE MILES!!! : Unbelievably, I have... - Bridge to 10K
TEN WHOLE MILES!!!
Well done- enjoy your rest ! 👍🏻
Fantastic! Are you fuelling properly?
Only had a Weetabix before I went out. (Didn't want a stitch), I did have a bit of a funny tummy yesterday, nothing drastic, and wonder if that was a factor. Don't usually feel that bad on the few occasions I've made it to 12K...
Great report 🤗🙆♀️🏃♀️
Well done on your 10 miler!🙂👏 Tasha is right, nutrition and hydration become increasingly important on these longer runs. I either take some home made “power” flapjack(!) with water or I use Tailwind (hydration and fuel combined but easier on the stomach than gels. ) Might be worth working out what works best for you. Rest up well now.🙂
Thanks for the advice. Who'd have thought I'd be out so long I'd need snacks!
🤣 Believe me, it’s a whole new skill - eating and running at the same time!🤣
I love the way you've manged to combine running with flapjacks!! 🤣
Power flapjack recipe below - has been shared on these forums many times and for good reason! I combine dried cherries, fruit and flaked almonds in mine...yum!😀
Congratulations on your 10 miles run. Maybe next time take a gel and some water with you. You must feel so proud of yourself 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Congratulations! 10 miles is massive!
Thank you!
Well done, I’m jealous!
Half had 16k in mind the other day, but everything was hurting at 12 and I sacked it off.
I’m still treating the runs as C25K and just going out without a care or consideration in the world. Think I’m going to have a look at this nutrition stuff as well 😂.
Congratulations to you Lizcanrun on running your first ten mile run, especially after stopping short a couple of weeks ago, the words Ten Miles should be next to your username, not on the forum but the marathon forum, if not tell the administrators that you have ran ten miles for the first time.
Thank you
Congratulations. That's a great achievement. If course you 'almost' did it last time so this is 'almost ' a consolidation run. Good time too!
Well done. Such an amazing feeling, 👏 you should feel so proud
Fantastic...managing your 1st 10 miles with that elevation gain is impressive, no wonder your legs are tired 😅Congrats, enjoy your well earned lazing 👍😊
Thank you - I am!! Not much choice about the elevation round here 🤣
Was the first word on the top of your app an instruction? 10 miles is definitely cool. WELL DONE.
It will have to be after the Summer before I start considering getting anywhere near that!
Thank you
