Confession of a crazy convert!

I really didn't believe the many posts which talked about your enjoyment of running in the rain. It was evident this morning that if was going to run I was going to have to check it out for myself!

Maybe today was not a good choice for a first trial! The weather forecast for Wales had a yellow warning for wind and rain. We live at 800ft and our village is not known for its gentle breezes. I set off along the narrow local lanes. The route was strewn with branches. I kept a close eye and ear on surrounding trees, just in case any more missiles decided to join their neighbours. The rain pelted down and floods sometimes reached from side to side across the track. I got to the end of the tarmac. A steep and slippery grass trail covered in leaves led down to the first gate and stream to negotiate. I paused to take a photo before running on and up. I was now in open moorland and had to slow to avoid bog grass, mud and standing water.

Wow! I was enjoying it. Bring on the rain and the wind! The autumn colours looked beautiful; the hills dramatic. I ran to forget this awful pandemic and our current lockdown status, glad to be free in the open air.

I was so elated I ran back past my house and pushed on to reach 10k. I am one crazy convert!

Yes it was more amazing that I could ever have thought a run could be.

I laugh so much at my soglet self when out in the wet. Much better than pesky summer 😁

Whopee! Another rain convert! Crazy isn't it! Well done. Not sure about when it turns to freezing rain or fog, but we'll see. 😂

Indeed. After today, I won't make any assumptions.

Glad you enjoyed the wet, windy run.The exhilaration of running in wind and rain is a recent revelation to me too.

My views are less dramatic than yours but still very exposed to the winds. It's so lovely having the paths to myself so wondering if we should stop telling everyone how wonderful it is or they will all be out there! _ssshh

You are right. Forutnately, the only living things I saw today were the sheep. Not sure that they were enjoying the conditions as much as I was!

Glad you enjoyed it. I had my wettest run ever on Monday, did the same route this morning and was surprised that it had drained so well. No wet feet until it bucketed down as we were walking home.

Part of my enjoyment was due to having invested in trail shoes. Don't like wet feet. Rest of me go pretty wet though

What a super expedition coggerjogger 👍

You were of course the first family member to run in the pouring rain and enjoy it. You definitely started that. :)
