Good (sunny) morning to you all...I am hoping the sun is shining as brightly where you are as it is here in Yorkshire??
I was hoping to have written this post last night but by the time hubby got home and he'd had tea etc it was too late to go out so I've been this morning and....
The sun is not the only thing that is shining in my life so far today...my smile is shining because I have just got back from my first outing in my beautiful new shoes and it was the best run EVER!!! Oh my goodness...it was like running on springy clouds..like something you'd see in a super Mario game!!
AlMorr recommended I didn't run more than 5k in them so I held back and chose to run a 3k that's already set on my garmin...
5 Minute warm up walk while I set up my music..my Nephew is an online D.J, I didn't actually know this as I haven't had much contact with him until recently, but as with everything and social media you're only one click away from being found!! Anyway, he got in touch last week and we've had a couple of chats during which he said he would put a compilation of his tracks together just for me...and I have to say it was perfect for running along to..I find that sometimes with playlists I make for myself I end up skipping from one to the other and sometimes find this unsettling during a run and can't get into my rhythm properly...is that just me??? Maybe it was just because I was so looking forward to this run though that everything seemed perfect??
I headed up the hill during the warmup and through the library grounds where there was a few dog walkers that I had to distance from but even though I didn't go near them I could see them eyeing up my little red devils!! With a vibrate of my watch to say my time was up it was now their time...time for them to let me know whether we were going to be my perfect match..
Downhill for the first couple of minutes, yes, you guessed it, I'm heading towards my favourite place...the canal...lets see how they perform on my territory, all good so far, I'm not a fan of downhill as my 'kneeless' knee doesn't like the inertia but I think that's probably been worse over the last few weeks as my other trainers were preparing to retire..but these little beauties just glided down the hill and helped my knees with every landing...
Down onto the towpath...I know this place like the back of my hand so I will know within 10 minutes whether I've made the right choice..there's a few other runners this morning enjoying the sunshine and a couple of them are in front of me...now I have never, ever overtaken anyone except at parkrun but as they approached the slope up to Bevlar bridge I found myself overtaking them!!! Yes, you read right, I passed them...but not only did I pass them, I passed them with spring, strength, speed and I knew they weren't going to catch me up!! What the heck has happened to me? Have my old trainers been holding me back all this time?? What a difference...I honestly cannot believe how springy and light my steps were...now I might've had a different picture in my head to what others actually saw but I felt like a proper runner...not someone dragging their sorry carcass along as is the usual picture I have of myself....unless there's another runner approaching in which case my speed increases, along with the bouncy in my step and the grimace in my face until they've passed and I go back to feeling like an unleashed sofa spud chewing a wasp...
3k done...happy, happy, happy feeling inside that I have, yet again, met my perfect running partner in these shoes...I was still a couple of Kms away from home so, and this is something I'm going to do at the end of every run, if there's still some fuel left in the tank, I started my watch again and did some interval work and covered another 2.1 kms to get me home...
I am now sat smiling happily writing my post, sharing my happiness with you and my faithful trainers are just here, on the floor happy that they've been set free from their box and ended up in Yorkshire with me...they wont regret it and I don't think I'm going to either
Happy sunny running everyone...and thanks for reading!! Sorry it was so long!!

What a lovely 3K run you ran in your new running shoes MC, that must have made your day overtaking those other runners, a big change from being overtaken, I am sure you will have many more happy runs in your new running shoes. 😊 🏃🏾
Thanks AlMorr ...and thanks for the heads up on the distance..I’d still be running if you hadn’t said!! Oh yes, a proper change from being overtaken...and a real buzz!!
Haha...that’s it Bluebirdrunner ...a gazelle in my head that’s what I was!! You’re right, I shall be itching to take them out again..maybe an early morning long one who knows..it was already warm by the time I got going this morning so a bit cooler would be great! Hope you manage a little outing today in this gorgeous sunshine xx 😘
Eeee pet they look champion and such a bonny colour too! Well done on a great post full of sunshine , colour and happiness! Thanks for sharing👏👏🌺🌸🌼😀😀
Gorgeous shoes! I love that colour 😍 What make are they? I can’t see. I’m so pleased they worked out on their first outing - a bit like a first date isn’t it? Not good, nah they have to go v ooh lovely might want to see them again 🙂
I love running fast at the end of a run and try to do it on most. You’re really warmed up and it’s great training and it’s fun, isn’t it? 🤗
I have a feeling that you and the Red Devils are going to have a long and happy relationship 🏃♀️🙂
Hah yep...just like that Irishprincess ...I think these are keepers though! And yes, that’s what I think because I’ve proper warmed up and it wouldn’t take as long to get home then intervals are the thing to do...I would probably end up running anyway just because I can! 😉
They look fab! Your husband is definitely a 'keeper'! It'll be interesting to see if you get faster and prefer them to your old pair. I've always fancied the On shoes but am not sure they'd be ok for my pronating, high arched wide feet. Will you be needing some accessories ( i.e. new running gear 😉) to match now?! 😁 Wishing you many happy groovy runs X
They have a ‘find the right shoe’ section and also you have 30 days to decide whether you like them or not ...have a look on the website Slink...you never know, your next perfect pair could be sat there waiting for you xx
HOORAY! So they are great to run in as well as gorgeous to look at?! Fantastic, MC, I am so pleased. ♥️ Sounds like a fabulous run, too, you gazelle you! Lovely report, thank you. xxx
Oh thanks Hidden , I’ve been chuffed all day truth be told!! And I’ve put the little red devils where I can see them so they’ve kept me smiling all day!!
I def had all sorts going in this morning on my run...my pace was greatly improved and my VO2 max has gone from good to excellent!!! It’s a win win!! 😉
I smiled all the way through this post. Sounds like the beginning of a beautiful new relationship. Fab looking shoes and delighted they made such a difference to your run - i hear the right outfit can knock minutes off a 5k time as well... 😉
Absolutely fabulous Mummycav!! 🤗🤗 Your shoes are shining!! Running on clouds!! 😮🤤 Your family reconnection & great music!! What’s not to love!! You’re just shiny all over!! Thanks for sharing the happiness!! 🤩🤩❤️
Such happiness. I have had two pairs of On shoes. The first pair did 500 miles, and a little more subdued in colour than yours, they are now my main casual shoes for day to day wear - they are so comfortable. My new On Cloudflows have replaced them and just the look of them - and the lightness - gives you so much confidence on a run. Keep us updated on their progress.......
