W1R2....in the bag...

I have been itching to do the park run for a few weeks but it’s either fallen on a rest day or somethings come up & put the mockers on it, I’m not the parkruns biggest fan but I have decided to throw one in now & again just because it’s right across the road & I wish I was there when they all set off...it’s a bit like watching the ice cream van go passed & having no change...so, with all of you in mind...a picture of you all shaking your heads with disapproval, I jumped out of bed & sinned...I sinned big time...I ran on a rest day....yesterday’s run was only 2.5k (have you heard me? Only 2.5k????!!!!) so I thought it wouldn’t harm...I know I shouldn’t have, & I feel bad for doing it...well, I did feel bad, well, actually I still do but I also feel blooming fab too because I got my PB ...I went for a 5 min walk around the block for my warm up, I was determined to run the whole 5k no breaks, no gremlins, just a slow steady pace...me & my run...it was time to run & id gone to the back as usual, I’m a right loner, honestly, I keep myself to myself...completely different to me when I’m not in my trainers...I’m everybody’s friend & the life & soul, but not when I’m running...I’m on my own...2k came & went...I spotted some trainers in front of me that were running at my pace so I stayed behind them...perfect...but then they slowed down & I went passed them...then I spotted some more trainers that were running my pace too so I stayed behind them...when Strava told me I was on KM number 4, my heart skipped a beat...nearly there, my legs were doing fantastic...my breathing had the ultimate rhythm...yes, I was hot & pink but I was running...I carried on...over Billy goats gruff bridge for the last time...round the last bend & I was there..the finish...I did it!!! I did it!!! 5k ticked off my chart...then the realisation of what I’d done sunk in & I knew how disappointed everyone would be that I’d committed the ultimate sin...I promise I will not do it again...I haven’t been a good role model today, I was dreading posting my run...please forgive me?!! If it’s your rest day today, take it...don’t be like me 😟

Happy Saturday everyone, enjoy your runs if you’re out today & enjoy them tomorrow if you’re out & about

MC xx

Of course I forgive you! (But you are very, very naughty.) Make sure you rest properly now! I would never dare run 2 consecutive days, as I am the kind of gal that follows rules and is scared of authority 😂. I’m sure you’ll be okay, your run yesterday was a short one. But don’t make a habit of it, especially as the runs are going to get longer!

But very happy to hear you had a good run and a PB to boot! Has starting B210K reinvigorated you? It has me. I was flailing a bit without a goal.

Go Mummycav, go!

Ah, I’d say it was worth it! Well done on the 5k MC! 👍🏼👏

Well looks like we both sinned today. I too ran on a rest day - lets hope we both dont get struck down by the running gods lightning. I know its frowned upon but if you feel fresh enough to run and am not pushing it all out then why not go for it, just dont make a habit of it. And well done on the PB. I loved the post about the pace setting trainers as I do that too, but I usually look at colourfol clothing

Oh Mummycav 😶....

Congratulations on your 5k pb and taking part in your Parkrun 😊... it sounds like you ran that really well, and felt strong and capable. Well done!

I have never run on consequtive days either, like Sadie says we know da rules...

Please take a couple of days before your next run, to let your muscles repair and strengthen.

Have a lovely weekend, you can do some toe lifts and heel drops while you are on that naughty step😊xxx

Thank you for posting this on the Bridge site...😉

How long do I have to stay on the naughty step??? I’ve finished all my stretches...wrote a hundred lines ‘I will not run consecutive days...I will not run consecutive days...’ that will also be my mantra next time out!! I am not going to run now until Tuesday/Wed....I promise x

Definitely forgiven by one who has rule aversion ..lol.. However saying that once I get off this bloody IC I will be more rule focused! Well done and a PB, cant be all bad. :) :)

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toLorijay

Thank you Lorijay ..I’ve had my hands slapped & am now banished to the naughty step for a bit...I will not break that rule again...otherwise it might be IC for me instead of naughty step & I don’t want that! Sorry to hear you’re on the IC, hope it’s not for too long x

Oh dear Mummycav! .... but I've stuck my fingers in my ears so haven't heard your confession ... just don't do it again!

Well done on the 5k, now you can enjoy your rest day tomorrow.

Keep up the good work ... happy running '

Great job on achieving a PB today! You’ve repented your sins and all will be forgiven. I will admit to having also run on consecutive days recently ..... but in my defence, the plan i’m following is 4 runs per week with a back to back run day every week. I only do 3 of the runs, skipping the back to back runs.... except one week when I couldn't get my runs in any other way. My plan has the first run being a short easy one followed by a longer run the next day, which is essentially what you just did. So there, no harm no foul, right 😉

That was brilliant Mummycav . I'm sorry to report that I'm not disappointed, just hugely impressed at your motivation and achievement! I promise I'll try to be more disappointed if there's a next time. I just don't think it'll kill you after a baby run yesterday, and you've acknowledged it's not a good plan and won't be making a habit of it. They say don't run consecutive days until your legs have at least 6 months on them, so it's not a "never" situation!

Take that well-earned rest now and we'll say no more about it 😜

Did I say well done already!!!! 🏃‍♀️💨💨💨

Thank you at Hidden ....sometimes the urge to run is too great! I’ve run twice on the same day in the past when I’ve had a disappointing run, sulked a bit, then gone back out! I am going to rest until Tuesday...heel lifts & toe stretches for me until then! xx

Frankly I'm disgusted..... no change for the ice cream van????!!! Blimey lass, you need to sort out your priorities, never mind no rest days.... :)

Brilliant news on your PB, perfect timing to boost you onto your 10k journey. You are going from strength to strength MC. I'm sure you have enough running miles in the bank to squeeze in an extra run every now and then, especially if it's a winner like today. Well done you :)

Mine's a 99, but only if it's a real flake :) xx

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toFishypieface

😂😂😂 thanks Fishypieface , I knew on the last km that there was a chance of a pb so I think I quickened my pace slightly....it’s certainly boosted my confidence 😉

Do you want sauce & sprinkles?? xx

If I can make you feel better at all, in your hour of darkness, I run on three consecutive days, then rest, then run, then rest, then all over again, as that's the only way to go if you follow half/full marathon training. Of course, I made sure all my parts were in place and in working order before I embarked on that schedule.

However, a year ago that would not have been possible, the body was not as responsive as it is now. ;)

Oh, I feel much better now!

I’m going to start sinning too actually. Thinking to scrap my 10k run and then do an extra shorter run in the week. I’ll see how it goes. Well done. I love a ParkRun 😂

Hey congratulations MC. Never figured you for a rule breaker!! 😉 Sounds like you had a smasher of a run must of been guilt driven!!

Reading what you said about running at the back made me smile. I still haven't done park run but watching things like marathons on TV with all the people just makes me think it's not something I want to do. But back runner would be an option 😎

Hey Richard7 ....following trainers is the way forward..I feel a bit like a trainer user but they got me there so eh cares??? X

Got up this morning and it’s raining so I thought of sinning too I.e. resting on a running day, but as I can’t run tomorrow as I will be on a plane all day, you have shamed me into activity, B210k W1R1 think I will try for another 5k to begin with, I blame you MC!

Glad I did it now, rain was very light and I knocked nearly 2 mins off my PB for 5k, just 29 seconds over the magic 30 mins

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toBerksrover

Wow, well done! Bet you’re buzzing?! You’ll prob knock those 29 seconds off next time too! 💪🏻🏃🏼‍♀️

Running on consecutive days is like all sins, people do it all the time! I really enjoyed a 7 day 'streak' when I was on holiday. As long as you take care, you will be fine :)

Fishypieface profile image
FishypiefaceGraduate10 in reply to

Who'd have thought a few years ago that we would enjoy a 7 day running streak at all.... never mind on holiday!! I can't wait to run on holiday - it's the bit I am looking forward to the most..... more than relaxing with a glass of wine soaking up beautiful views..... I must be going soft! :)

in reply toFishypieface

I know, there are some days when I wonder who I am....certainly changed from my pre running days. I am off to Vietnam soon and have been to a gym to learn how to run on a treadmill as preparation! :)

Enjoy your holiday running Fishy :)

Ive felt a couple of times when I got back from a run like I could do it again straight after, so probably would be able to run again the next day.

But I don’t.

Because I’m not naughty. 😇

Except for yesterday when I decided to go for a very steady run till I couldn’t run no more. Then run a little bit further. Ended up going for 1hr 35 mins non stop and clocked up 10.9k 😳

I’m due to start juju’s 10k plan on Tuesday, but I’ll join you on the naughty (rest) step till then 🙂

Surely the ultimate sin is buying new shoes and not posting a picture of them on here for everyone to see? This is just a minor indiscretion 😀

Well done on the PB.
