In the hope that things return to some kind of normality by September, I’ve decided to enter the new 11km course in the annual town run where I go in France.
I did the 6 km hilly run last September to many people’s amazement. The alternative was a 20 km very hilly which is serious stuff and usually won by East Africans.
The 11 km is a new one. I calculate that 4 km of it is quite steep uphill. This is more than I’ve ever done off the flat so I’m preparing for it now:
A lot of local uphills although none is longer than 2 km.
I also need to lose the 6 kg I weigh more than this time last year. It’s no wonder all my times this year are down on 2019 whilst I carry around a bag of spuds.
So I’ve got 5 months to get there. Fingers crossed and leg muscles flexed!

I hope by September you will be able to run that 11k run, I notice also that Le Tour de France is also taking place at the end of August, we also hope that parkruns will start again around the beginning of September as well.
I miss them as well, however, since the last official Parkrun on 14th March I have been running a "Virtual 5K parkrun" near to where I live, so you could at the time parkruns are run, run a virtual parkrun, not the same as a real one but it gets you out on a Saturday morning.
You’ve got loads of time, so happy training to you 🏃💪🙂 That weather looks hot 🥵
Similar to your quote, the one I use is, “man plans and God laughs”. I say this often to a friend who has always planned her life to the n’th degree and needless to say nothing has ever worked out as she planned 😏
