Oh wow VRBs, I did it! Never ever have I been so hot whilst running, and it sure wasn’t as flat as they advertised (are they ever?!), but it was an amazing not to be missed experience. 🏃♀️🏃🏅☀️🥵
I’ll tell you what, even though it was a lot slower than Bristol, purely due to the heat, my legs felt fantastic and really strong today. I’m so pleased - clearly my longer distances have been paying off. 💪
My preparation was good too. I’ve been eating (mostly) very healthily this week and I’ve had water on the go the whole time. It definitely helped, and I’m so very happy with how I felt throughout the race. 😀
I got a beautiful medal to add to my collection (3 now!) and I’m psyched for the GSR in October where it can’t possibly be so hot - can it? 😳 I certainly couldn’t have run 10 miles today. Kudos to all the HM runners who were gazelling in as we were heading out, and the ones who finished alongside us snails! 🐌
My daughter (not the pregnant one!) came along with my dog for support. She took a video of me running over the finish line! ❤️
I’m still buzzing (can you tell?!) 👏👏
Next fun thing, Dexy5 ’s 50th PR at Southsea next weekend! I love running! 🏃♀️🏃🏃♀️🏃🏃♀️❤️

So glad you did it and enjoyed it dear cheeky. That is an iconic run. How brilliant, and you are so fit. How lovely That you had supper and video evidence too.
I think you might get a parkrun PB in Southsea next weekend as it really is flat. Looking forward to seeing you.
Wonderful, very well done You did really well especially in the heat - no shade at all across the bridge but maybe a little breeze?! Lovely photos, you look so happy.
Thanks SS! I was hoping for a breeze, but there was virtually none- and the only shade was from the struts of the bridge! It was truly scorching, but so much fun. 👍🏃♀️🥵☀️
It’s the first time I didn’t really notice I was running 10k Sandra. I was so relieved, not really knowing how this would go today. Yes I was slow, but the heat was truly scorching so I knew why. Everything else felt great! 👍😀
Woo hoo brilliantly done, Cheeky! 👏👏👏 You are a powerhouse running in this heat. ⚡️🔥 So glad to hear you enjoyed it, sounds like an amazing experience. And what a pretty daughter and gorgeous pup you have!
Thank you Jell! ❤️ I was expecting hot, so I hydrated tons over the last few days and slowed down accordingly - and it didn’t beat me. I won’t be so scared of running in the heat from now on. 👍
Wow. What a triumph! 🎉👏🏼🎉🎶🎉 And the photos are great. It’s hot even sitting still today, yet you manage to look cool & fresh. Mme Super Fit, there. 😄 So glad it lived up to expectations after all your preparation. 👍🌈🏃🏼♀️🎉
Thank you so much GS! I know, I’m glad it was fun too, as it’s the first race I entered. The moment I knew I liked running, it was on my bucket list. I’ll do it again next year for sure! 😀
Congratulations cheeky! It’s one thing to finish and quite another to really enjoy it like you did 🥳 Thanks to my hip and calf I’m still about 10 PRs away from my 50th but I have a very special PR coming up at the end of September I am trying to stay sound for 😉😁👍
Thanks so much Equi, and ooo how exciting about your special PR! I’m trying to work it so that my 50th is around my birthday in January, but it’ll need some strategic volunteering weeks added in! I’ve done 35! 😅😅
Ridiculous heat Deb, but I had psyched myself up for it and hydrated loads the last few days. I abandoned all hope of bettering my Bristol time, and simply set out to enjoy it. It worked! 😀👍
Great work cheeky! You did it, in the heat, and have another lovely medal 😻. All your preparation paid off. Enjoy the rest of your day and next week's VRB Meetup.
Congratulations on running your Severn Bridge 10k this morning, it was hot as you say, did you manage to get near the safety railing which would have made the run a little cooler with the breeze coming up from the water below?, or was that not possible with so many runners taking part, anyway, once again congratulations on a lovely run, beautiful bling you got. 😊 🏃
Thank you Al! I took your advice and stayed by the outer rail for the most part, but it literally made no difference - almost zero wind which must be unheard of for that bridge! 🙄😅
I really loved running it though, and will definitely return next year. 😀
Yay, congratulations on a fantastic run Cheeky 👏😃🏃♀️💥 Daughter and Flossie to cheer you on as well, perfect. It was obviously a very special day. Hope you are now celebrating 🥳🍾
No celebrations yet as I’m driving to Ross-on-Wye shortly to meet hubby. He’s rowing there tomorrow and has been rowing in Gloucester the last couple of days. I’m taking Flossie and we’re going out for a (huge) meal this evening! 😅🐕❤️
Congrats and I love the bling. I haven’t done a 10K in ages. Well done for doing yours in the warm weather. Enjoy the parkrun next week too. Give DEXY5 a cheer for me, I’ll be looking forward to hearing all about the 50th parkrun. I’ll be doing my 49th parkrun next weekend.
Thanks Damien, oh yes it was mighty hot but fabulous fun. 😀 I’m sure there’ll be plenty of write ups after Dexy5 ’s special PR next weekend. Can’t wait! 👍 Do you have anything special planned for yours? 😀😀🏃
No nothing planned for mine, I’m going to do it with my 10 year old Son and celebrate afterwards with breakfast. I’m really looking forward to getting the red T-Shirt with 50 on the back.
YAY!!!!! 👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳🥵🌞💕💕💕🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️. Biggest hugest virtual hug of congratulations Cheeky. What a run!!! Amazing you again. And just love the photos. Just fabulous and my god that heat too. What a stunning achievement (on my favourite bridge too). See you very soon.
Thanks so much Wimborne! ❤️ It’s a lovely old bridge isn’t it? So much more characterful than the new one. 👍 Crikey it was hot though, and for the first time ever there wasn’t a breath of wind on it! 🥵😅
Thanks Tinker, I know - who’d ever think that 10k wouldn’t be daunting any more? Mega kudos to the HM runners though - that I certainly couldn’t have done today. 🥵🥵🥵🥵
Hahaha, yes BC, my long distance training definitely helped today, but it hasn’t helped me go any faster (unlike speedy you!) 🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃 Southsea need fear nothing! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🐌
Thanks so much Uncle! 😀 I love 10k as a distance and yes, it feels very doable nowadays. I can’t wait for the GSR though, just as long as it’s cooler than today! 🤞🤞🤞
It was ridiculously hot wasn’t it Katnap? There was thin cloud cover at the start of the HM, which conveniently burnt off just in time for our start at 10am! 🥵🥵🥵
That’s what we’ve been doing - it’s wonderful. So far I’ve done 2 PR meetups and a race, plus I’ll meet some new VRBs next weekend- with another race in October. Everyone is as lovely as they are on here. 😀
Well done, Cheeky!! 👏🏅🏃🏽♀️ What a memorable run that will be when filed in the 'great places I've run' memory bank! Glad you felt strong with good energy despite the heat. Hope you are staying cool now. Enjoy Dexy's 50th Parkrun next week!
Well I wouldn’t have even run that far if it had been a regular training run - so well done you for doing it voluntarily! The race forced me out. 🥵☀️ But thanks RP, I enjoyed it so much. 😀😀
Well done on your run today, we did a run last week so n similar conditions only add in undulating hills, a rain shower came in the end which would have been welcomed about a half hour into the run!!!
You look fabulous and doggo looks chilled too, roll on your next one. Xxx
Thanks Walshy, not sure about you but I’m ready for this hot spell to end now! I did enjoy yesterday though, and having my daughter and dog there too was lovely. 😀❤️
Congratulations CCM and you clearly loved it regardless of the heat and 🏃♀️🎉 Might I add you look pretty good for having done a 10K, I'd have expected a sweaty mess 😉
Aww thanks Run46. Funnily enough even though I get really hot I never sweat profusely. Nor does my heart rate get very high (yesterday it didn’t register at all because my water bottle was sloshing on my Garmin wrist!) I’m an oddball clearly! 😅
Well done and congratulations Cheeky! You are amazingly fit to get through in that weather on an unshaded bridge. But then you couldn’t train any harder than you have! Hope you’re having a well earned rest and ice cream today 😀👍👍👏👏
I have thanks Steve! A massive Italian meal in Ross on Wye last night, a Full English this morning and when we got home this afternoon I ate another bowl of pasta! Fully replenished now after my exertions yesterday! 😅
Congratulations Cheeky, you must have built up a lot of stamina to be able to complete it in that heat! The photo looks more like the Golden Gate then the Severn.
Wow, hopefully that’ll give you some peace of mind. I bet you can’t wait to be in your own home - hopefully you’ll be able take it nice and easy for a while. Take lots of care, and thanks for the update. ❤️
