I did whilst doing intervals on Wednesday..it seems my butt didnt take too well to the longer strides at a faster pace lol!. Still I have done a gentle 5.2k today and it seems okayish. Happy Friday fellow running peeps! and a long bank holiday weekend..HURRAH!!!!!! :) ps: I have now added pink streaks to my hair as well as the lippy..will get round to toenails at some point!

Sounds like a gluteal strain but as l am not a doc, let's just say it only sounds like it. It happens when your strides are longer than they should be and muscles are a bit cold so it's fairly common. Remember not to push too hard and keep your strides shorter. Oh yes, and do stretch regularly.

That's good to know, thank you for the info...think I do that fairly regularly 🌻

Don't worry too much, injuries/niggles will come & go. The key is to learn not to repeat them.

Trouble is...I do keep repeating them 😱. I have an appointment now with a sports physio whom I hope will put me right ! I'm a slow learner 🙃

They will fix you but, ultimately, it is your choice what to do and how to do it. I was a slow learner until two consecutive, equally bad injuries (knee and ankle), taught me how to look after myself. Sometimes there's no other way. especially with stubborn types like me.

Thanks, yes ultimately my responsibility, but I need sound professional advice. Your advice on shorter stride resonated...I recently did a 10k and I know I was pushing too fast...I will learn, I will get there! Happy days, have a good weekend 🙂🌻

Thanks...it does sound like that is right..I kept my strides shorter today and was fairly comfortable. I do stretch before I start and do the 5 minute walk still from the c25k. I do stretch after as well. Perhaps that particular muscle has spent far too much time sitting down over the years lol!

As you go along you will get stronger, you will activate muscles you didn't even know existed. It's great to be able to cover longer distances, injury-free, look back and realise that some short time ago none of that was possible. :)

I’ve had pain around my seat bones, but muscular, as part of my recent IC experience. Mine - I’m told by Chiro help - actually stems from tight lower back issues. Best to get it seen to in person by someone you trust, I reckon. Good luck (and sympathy) anyway. We all hate injuries!

Thank you...it has pretty much gone now apart from a small niggle. I have walked into town and back to help stretch it out as well. I may not do my longer run on Monday. I do try and get as near to 10k as I can usually but will probably just do 3 x 5k gentle ones instead. I hope you get your back sorted soon! Happy weekend! :)
