Hello Questers!

It's the final week of the April Quest - how have you been getting on?

There will be a May Quest starting next week 😊😊😊

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

β˜… To run three times a week

β˜… To slowly increase distance

β˜… To train for a specific race

β˜… To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate for you to download and keep!!

Wishing you a wonderful week of running! πŸ’₯

I got a new Parkrun PB, ran a sub 1 hour 10K and have entered my first 10K event next Sunday. I’m planning on just enjoying running for May. 3 to 4 runs per week but no goals as such.

That's amazing!!!!!!!! Well done 😊😊😊

It’s been a funny old month but there is always lots to learn in this running business. I was getting slow and tired and discovered that my iron was low. I think the levels are coming back up as I did a 5.5 km at my normal pace this week although it was way too hot. I hope to do a long run today or tomorrow and hopefully I’m back to normal for a 10km race In a castle at the end of May. I have to rethink my Quest for May and not try to do too much. Onwards bunnies 🐰

Well done, chick 😊😊😊 It must be great to be feeling better so quickly! xx

2.5 weeks into my iron treatment and I ran a relaxed 5km today at my more or less 'normal' pace and I didn't stop once so I'm very happy. Got to keep taking the pills for 3 months 'though.

Lots of on-call this last week and a busy work week means I haven't got my runs in or glute exercises but I got 1 run and 1 glute workout. I'll be running tonight (hopefully) and have a plan to run my HM distance on Friday. We've got a pile of snow in the forecast and freezing rain on the next weekend, so I hope the forecast is wrong 😒. I was enjoying the nice Spring weather (while driving from home to work and back again...and repeat, repeat, repeat πŸ˜†)

Aw, doing a no-snow dance for you ... xx

Thanks! It won’t last at least, but it could really mess up my plans 😑

Hi Roseabi! No supplementary exercises thus far this week -taken time out due to general tiredness and my rep counts for most exercises were down !! Normal service will resume come thursday !! Still , we had a successful 10K easy run yesterday and I had a good 5K 'tempo' run out on Wednesday, which to be honest ,I ran too quickly , but Im still learning here !! Planning interval training, once a week ,for this distance when I,ve sorted new running shoes out !

Not fresh as a daisy, but targets achieved :-)

I finished the St Georges Day "10k" this evening in 50'23", which would have been remarkable if it wasn't for the fact that Mr Garmin informed me it was actually the St Georges Day 9.43 (approx) k :-( . The short-changing of the 10k runners wasn't really compensated for by the fact that the 5k was actually nearer 5.5 …….

However, Mr Garmin also told me that my average pace was 5'21"/k, so I'm claiming a 10k equivalent time of 53'30", which would be 15 seconds inside my PB, and a minute and a half inside my stretch race-pace target for the month.

There's nothing like good pace management, and doing the first 2k in 10'15" instead of 11 minutes was nothing like good pace management. Luckily I managed to settle down to around 5'25" average for the next 5k or so, and then push again a bit for the last 2k.

I'll leave it up to Dexy5 to give her view of her run, if she hasn't beaten me to it (I got distracted by learning of an unexpected Stanley win tonight :-) )

Anyway, April job done :-) , onwards and upwards!!

Hi roseabi, one part of my quest was to find room in my cabin bag for running shoes etc so I could run on holiday βœ…

Second part was to run further than I previously had in one month, currently just 2k off at 78.5k, so fairly confident! Third & final part was to be ready for 2x10k events in May, I've done the graft but think I need to taper a bit bcos legs were feeling a bit heavy on this mornings run!

Hope everyone's enjoying spring and their April quests!

Bit of a mixed week last week. I needed to do the week day runs in the evening (I’m an early morning runner). The plan called for the first run to be 15k - I managed 10.5K before it was getting dark and I decided to call it a day. 2nd Run was a 15minute benchmark which was more difficult than the 10.5k.

Roll on to Friday when thanks to the bank holiday I was back to morning run. Set out at 9:00am armed with water and sunglasses. The target was to complete 16k - I planned for a very short break at 8k to refill the water bottle and take a comfort break (last chance). Really chuffed that I completed the 16k longest run so far. Followed by 4 sunny days of relaxing and gentle walking. β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈπŸ™‚πŸ™‚

Awesome - well done!!!!!

Count me in!

My goal is to jog once a week up the hill. The hill in question is 3 miles into my Sunday 10K jog! The whole thing is slightly hilly but this bad boy is at the end of a verticle climb 400m if you get my drift.

I have mild arthritis in my knee and ankle from an old injury so I only jog one day a week outside. Other training sessions are in the gym or on my bike.

Sorry for the long post.

So my April quest was to increase my running back up to 10k distance again for theSt George’s Day run. Despite various niggles trying to thwart my chances, I ran the race which turned out to be 9.5k including a false turning. So I’ve still got a few days to fit in a full 10k and a a parkrun before the end of April.

Note of warning to all runners ⚠️ mosquitoes can get you even when wearing Lycra leggings 🦟 🦟 🦟 . My calves are covered in bites.

Hello roseabi,

23 days it seems, since I last wrote - how time flies! As I said then, I wanted to mix up the running with cycling and I have indeed done both. Still managing 3 x 30 minutes per week on 2 feet - but only one new parkrun: last Saturday, the wind was so strong in a couple of uphill stretches, it felt as if an invisible giant's hand was pushing me backwards! And I was striving to keep up with a 4-year-old first-time parkrunnerπŸ˜‚.

As you may deduce, this was no PB for me, in fact, I was 2 m 22 s short of my February PB!

On the plus side, I 'sort of' ran for ahour for the first time on Easter Monday... if running for 30 minutes out - then strolling around a classic car show for 40 minutes and then running home counts?!

And finally, I am keeping up marshalling - or as last Saturday - doing set-up at parkrun.

With my rather mixed, not too closely defined, quest at the start of April, I'll leave it you, Roseabi, to judge whether I have earned the April quest certificate 😊.

All the best to everyone,

Notsoslothfulnow
