3rd fastest hilly 5k... Coming out of winter hibernation after 4 months of intermittent fasting..

I can't remember the last time I posted here but pretty sure it was last year! πŸ€”The number and quality of runs I managed through the winter were both low, due to weather, underfoot conditions, and feeling rather "blah". I've been using intermittent fasting to lose unnecessary ballast, which has worked a treat, but definitely affected my energy levels. Now over 20lbs lighter than this time last year, it's time to get back to regular running to see if that translates into more speed!

So today I tried my hilly pyramid intervals run, and posted my 3rd fastest avg pace for the route at 10m 4s per mile. It's given me a confidence boost as so many of my 5k runs have been at over 11min avg per mile through the winter, even when I was trying quite hard! I'm hoping this weekend's snowfall will be the last of this winter - just a couple of pockets of snow left in the garden now, so I can get out running 3x per week again. I haven't run further than 4 mls for months so looking forward to building up my running stamina as well as speed now that spring is arriving. I'm also back in the gym to build up my overall strength, and was delighted to find I could do a couple of unassisted chin-ups this morning, for the first time probably this centuryπŸ˜€

Onwards and upwards!!

That all sounds very positive and you're raring to go! Hilly intervals are just fab and you can feel results really quickly I think.

Well done on the weight loss and the chin-ups! I've been trying to do a pull-up for months now but have reached a bit of a sticking point 😩

But as you say, onwards and upwards πŸ™‚

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the hills. Would be nice to have a flattish option from time to time, but not when you live on tip of a hill πŸ˜‰

I had a New Year's resolution for years to do a chin up, with zero success! I didn't bother with resolutions this year. Maybe that's the trick?! πŸ˜ƒ

Good luck with yours - don't give up!! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Hi AP, that's great news on the weightloss front, and will equate to easier and maybe some faster running! The views from your garden look amazing, and hopefully with thd snow a distant memory you can enjoy some lovely Springtime running 😊

Keep running and posting! 😊xx
