Did my longest run so far and really enjoyed it. The route was mainly flat with a couple of undulations. I found the first 5 mins was the hardest today. Struggled to find my rhythm. Breathing was a bit laboured and legs were heavy. Was I going too fast? No actually the 1st k turned out to be the slowest. After this I seemed to settle into a nice pace. I was also trying out a new running belt to carry my phone and key. I normally carry them in my shorts pocket but it's not the best so bought a belt for £4 off eBay. Not a bad piece of kit and better than phone in pocket. I really need to plan my routes better tho cos I ended the 7.5k at a place 25mins walk from home! Legs were really tired afterwards but feeling a lot better this morning. Need a proper rest day today now though. Happy running everyone
7.5k run - half way from 5 to 10!: Did my... - Bridge to 10K
7.5k run - half way from 5 to 10!
Good job well done Dave! As for finishing 25mins walk away, just consider it a really good cool down. Foam rolling & a good stretch session after your runs will help no end with your leg recovery too, but gently does it if you're not used to it, and only after running, when the muscles are fully warm. Good luck!
Yeah 25 mins walk was just a little bit too long as it was a cold wind and I was only wearing shorts and 2 top layers so I was getting cold by the time I got home. Apart from that all good
Yay 😀 well done 👍🏻 like you say halfway 👍🏻👍🏻
Woohoo well done Dave, you really are nearly at 10k! You’ll smash it when it come, and don’t forget to tell us so we can pop some 🍾 for you! 🏃♂️🏃♂️👊👊
Personally, I totally knew I could run 10k the moment I did my first 8k. I could visualise where I’d need to run to which helped me tremendously. 😀
I was ok during and straight after the run but legs were aching a lot last night. Ok today now so probably just tired
Never judge a run by the first km!! 😉 Well done on your 7.5k - definately not far off that 10k goal, which I bet is nearer than you think!🙂
Thanks Sandra. Definitely getting stronger. Not taking 2 or 3 days to recover between runs now
Anybody would have a bit of leg ache after 7.5k..it just goes with the extra distance. I would make your next run a really easy one, not too far, just to loosen things up again.👊👊
I'm pleased to say the legs felt fine the morning after so I must be getting stronger. Went for a 6k walk yesterday and feeling fine now. Don't know if I will run today. It depends on the wife! She's on wk8.3 of c25k. If not it's parkrun on Sat
Well done Dave! I have you in my sights as I am aiming for 7.5k next week! My first km is always my hardest and my slowest. When she says "you've completed 1km" I swear she is lying!!
Good luck with the next push, you are doing brilliantly, over half way, downhill to 10 now....
Thanks. My biggest issue is I must try to run slower on the long runs
