As someone who started C25K in the warm summer months I'm now finding it a bit chilly when I head out at 6.30am - can anyone give me some advice on clothing as there seems so much choice and such a wide price range that I don't want to get it wrong. I'm a slow and steady runner so don't get very hot... All advice gratefully received thanks
What to wear?: As someone who started C25K in... - Bridge to 10K
What to wear?
Rule of thumb is add 10deg C to ambient temperature and dress appropriately
The advise is wear layers you can remove and tie around your waist,
I bought a thin running jacket but not had to use it yet, I am in a long sleeved running top and thin running gloves, £5 decathlon, I am still in shorts but recently added under crackers
Thanks Tony_68 that's very helpful particularly the temperature uplift idea
Get cheap gear, it’s fine My fave is Lidl. There’s decathlon, Tesco, sports direct. No need to spend much at all.
Tights, socks, vest, tee, lightweight run jacket. (Pockets are a boon), gloves, cap or beany
I do warm up quickly and so far this winter, I’ve only run in long sleeves once. (And a onesie once, but that’s another story!)
So my recommendation would be a thin long sleeved top and a thin running jacket on a really cold day, along with a buff for your head or neck and gloves. I’d personally be taking off the jacket pronto, but you could be ok with it on if you don’t get terribly toasty.
Also long leggings on the coldest days or cropped ones every other time for me.
It’s trial and error really! Have fun! 👍😀
Loads of advice on here already, but I’ll add that if buying gloves , look for ones with the fingertips that work on your phone.📱 🧤🏃♀️
This time of year it’s layers.... I’d say get a buff, a warm jacket or top and some long trousers. You can wear your usual woolly hat and gloves ( if you have one) when it gets v cold. You don’t need to spend lots. I get most of my running stuff second hand from eBay and it’s usually never been worn.
My winter running gear:
long leggings, long sleeved thermal top (second thinner one under if very cold), thin windproof running jacket, running skull cap type hat, thin running gloves, buff, ankle socks rather than anklet. Peel off layers if you get warm. Gloves in pocket along with buff, hat down bra, jacket round waist - IF you warm up enough. substitute thinner top for thermal one if it's over 3 ish degrees.
