Can’t stop running when I’m out there, might as well train for a half marathon, ran nearly nine miles yesterday. Has anyone else got the mileage bug after starting C25k only this year?

I just wish I had the time.... That is a very impressive distance. Just may be a bit careful about how many miles you are notching up so soon after starting , I would hate to see you injured due to overwork. Maybe try and mix up longer runs with short ones. Have you thought about following a specific training plan (if you are not already)?

Not sure I’ve quite got Forest Gump fever but I definitely look forward to the longer runs that I do on Saturday mornings each week. I think it’s partly because during the week I run the same 5k route most of the time but at the weekend I have a bit more time to explore.

Plus once you’re out there I totally get the temptation to go further than perhaps planned. Today I did 16k rather than the 13k I had in mind mainly because I decided mid way to head back via the river rather than the main road. I do like having the fitness to able to do that.

But Helen is right about being careful. My last injury was after my longest distance and I was stretching myself a bit much at that time.

Wow amazing distances tony, I do short runs in between my long ones and have rest days, hopefully I will be ok

Yeah I think the general rule is not to extend by more than 10% each week 😀

Wow sounds like you’re doing really well. Yes, you might as well :) I did nearly 8 a few weeks back and felt the same, but have had to ease off a bit due to random leg pain! The good news I now have a physio and that’s getting fixed.

My advice, not that I’m an expert, if you enjoy it and it’s good for you, keep doing what you’re doing!

Edit: do be careful too, listen to your body, don’t overdo it!

Congratulations on your progress! Yes, I share your addiction! I started C25K and am now doing 10 is the magic number – my 9k run tomorrow with the intention of doing longer distances beyond the programme.

Yeah but you gotta be careful not to overdo it Build up by no more than 10% a week and honour the non run day. Cross train as well so you’re not just running 💪👍😃

It’s great fun Exploring new routes is brill 🙂

Hi Ageless, I’m with you totally. I started C25K in April and now I’m thinking about a half marathon next year, to the amazement of friends and family 😳

For the moment I’m concentrating on Croydon 10K then looking to increase the distance by no more than 1Km every couple of weeks in line with Ju-ju’s excellent “10 is the magic number” plan. 🏃‍♂️🙂 It worked for me then and no reason to think it won’t beyond 10K, provided I take fluids and maybe a little sustenance with me.

Good luck! 🤞

No... I just let it evolve... and see where I get to... as Hidden says...take it steady... so easy to get injured.

I like skipping / jump rope as a cross training exercise. I think as runners we need to exercise the core more to improve running efficiency. Unfortunately running is not a complete exercise it needs other exercises.

I agree but only other exercise I do is walking my dogs twice a day, gardening and housework.

Fantastic x
