It’s been a week...

......Since I last ran. Still on ju-ju- ’s 10k programme but it’s slow, very slow...this is like waiting for a champagne cork to blow!!! I know it’s coming....slowly but surely..& when it does it will be quite a bang!! This week I’m 5 mins away from Disneyland Paris and the streets here resemble a rabbit warren...so, as I slipped my feet into my trainers this morning I was slightly apprehensive about running around here in case I get lost but I’m here until Sunday & there is absolutely NO WAY I am going another week without a run...then my phone buzzed, it was a message from runkeeper ‘let’s go, the first step out of the door is the hardest’ blimey, what timing?!!!! Is my phone spying on me??? So I snook (I seem to do a lot of this these days!!) out of the apartment, it was still quite dark, and to my joy it had rained a bit, I turned left & started my warmup walk, through the tiny streets that were still lit by the gorgeous street lamps. I headed for the main road where I thought I’d just run from one roundabout to the other, what could possibly go wrong? So I set off, not a soul around on foot, just me. After about 4 mins I started slowly, trying to get into the rhythm, my legs were ok, my lungs were ok but where was my head?? My head was worried about the route...I ran to the first roundabout, all the way round I thought, after a while I thought I must’ve taken the wrong exit road so I was running wondering where I was, I ran a bit further to see if I recognised the buildings but nothing looked familiar...my breathing started to get shallow as I panicked, I stopped to calm myself...turned round & ran back to the roundabout & took what I thought was the right turning, again I didn’t really recognise anything but I ran a bit further & things began to look more familiar, phew, I was on the right road, my little heart was pounding!! I’m not normally bothered about routes & like to make them up as I go along but I’m not doing that again!!! I need to remember to take more notice of my surroundings instead of singing my lid off!!! So todays run on Strava is split into two coz I stopped it in a panic!! Runkeeper recorded it all whilst barking orders at me! So my run on the programme should’ve been my last 9k but to be honest I don’t think I dare run 9k here so I think I’m just gonna stick to short runs this week & pick up when I get home...where I feel safe & know where I’m going!!

Now it’s shower time & a couple of mental days in Disneyland...

Happy running my lovely family

Stay safe xxx

Oooh Bev, my biggest fear! Getting lost running in a new place! (Doesn’t help that I am awful for directions and orientating myself at the best of times!) But phew, glad you made it back safe. This post read like a scary movie to me!

Yes. I think your plan is a really good one. Short runs to keep your fitness up until your return home. That is exactly what I would do, too!

Enjoy Disneyland! I was there with my niece in April. Thunder Mountain is the best ride I think, followed by Ratatouille and Star Tours! It is all a bit mental but your kids will have a ball! Make sure you get a Fast Pass for Thunder Mountain and Ratatouille.

Enjoy my lovely. xxx

Thanks for the heads up Chick, we got on ratatouille yesterday, loved it...and the rollercoasters are amazing, along with the star tours, will def do those again today! It’s about 20 degrees today with gorgeous sunshine.

At least with the run I stuck to the main road so I knew if I turned round I’d see something familiar eventually x

That was an adventure! Try google maps maybe? Enjoy the holiday 👍🏃🏾‍♀️😊

Oh yes...google maps is a god send, next run, I’m googling!

It's an awful feeling. I got a bit turned around in Spain earlier this year and I'd left my phone behind so couldn't even check a map.

Definitely worth checking out the map before you go. On the upside that road you're on is a ring road so as long as you stay on it you'll make it back! 👍😉

Hope you have a great time 😁

Oh gosh, glad you returned safe & sound!! I watched my run on relive & id run round the roundabout 1 1/2 times so went off on the opp side! 🙄 will have to take more notice next time!!! X

Just think if you hadn't found the right road you might still be running 😂😂

Don't worry about the time off, it happens and usually our bodies appreciate it. Running will always be there for you.

Enjoy Disneyland. I worked for one of the companies that built it and so I can claim that I walked around it in a hard hat while it was a building site!

Haha...I might have run to the tunnel!!! That’s a fab tale to be able to tell, I bet that was interesting!! I always worry though that my fitness might drop when I have too much of a rest...but Sadie-runs boingy legs made me feel a bit better about it! 😉 x

Ooh Bev, that was scary just reading it. I'm a bit apprehensive, well, very apprehensive in new places especially abroad so you're very brave to do what you did. Stay near to where you are and early in the morning too, you never know lovely. We don't want you to go missing or anything scary like that.

You seem to have been on holiday for weeks and weeks, have you gone for a month or so, lovely if you have and such a lovely place to go to too? Is it run keeper you use then, I need something to prompt me and make me go running, haha? Xx 😊

Oooo scary experience - very glad you found yourself. 😀

I don’t have much running tourism experience yet, but I check maps before ( I’m old enough to love a good map!) & memorise landmarks as I go. - Having said that, your roundabout plan sounded good - I suspect it had a sneaky twirl like the Harry Potter staircases! 😃

Haha, yessss!! I bet that’s what it was!!! It was the Val d’Europe shopping centre that I was looking for..it’s a girls dream!! 😉

Well done for still getting out there mamacav. It sounds like shorter runs until you get back are the way to go. I am sure you’ll be dead on your feet after days at Euro Disney!

You must be on your way back soon.

Wow, that sounds stressful! 😳❤️

Glad you made it back.

Belting around Disneyland will probably be plenty of exercise on its own. Hope you get chance to enjoy it a bit. Running will still be here waiting for you when you get back home! 😊❤️🏃‍♀️

All these exotic places you are running!! Braver than me, but you managed it, that’s the main thing. You’ve been up in an air balloon... you can do anything! 😀 We loved Finding Nemo ride when we went (6 years ago mind) couldn’t actually speak for the first minute! Enjoy it all xx
