Hi fellow Questers,

As the sun is shining right now most of us will be finding little spots of shade as we run. It will be interesting to see at the end of the Quest if we are still looking for shade or ducking under the trees to ward off the rain. ๐Ÿ˜€.

Now, what has everyone been up to this week, and you can still join us if you have just Graduated and would like some motivation....

I do hope you will join me to chat and share your goals and challenges.

What the Quest is;

The Quest takes one calendar month . You can join any point within that time.

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are completing the programme, your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and Strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice. Each week, I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you want to join, all you have to do is put;

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in and then, I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.

Wishing you a happy healthy month x

This Quest I would like to be ready for a 5km on the 22nd and complete at least a 17km. Iโ€™ve set myself the target of doing between 16 -21.1 km at least once every month, so far I am on target. Happy running everyone.

Rfc x.

Iโ€™d like to join and aim to do at least one short run per week working on speed (oh how I hate intervals) and then a 10km and a longer run edging me back to my HM distance.

Welcome onboard, your name has been added. Sounds like a great plan. I am Trying a short fast run as well at the moment. I know itโ€™s good for me but I donโ€™t feel the same sense of accomplishment as I do from my longer runs. I am sure they work though. Good luck.

Yes Iโ€™m sure they work, Iโ€™ll try fartleks again using C25K week 1 but with a mix of running and running fast instead of walking and jogging. I much prefer the long runs when you can forget about the running and just enjoy the scenery.

I would like to join the quest. I would like to do three runs each week, initially two 4ks and a 5k and becoming one 4k and two 5ks halfway through the month.

Please count me in RFC. After last monthโ€™s success of running 3 days per week, I would like to continue this trend and make it a habit ๐Ÿ˜. However, after todayโ€™s very challenging trail run, I realize I need to incorporate at least one trail run per week to be successful in my race this fall. The plan I was following was to increase my 10k pace but I realized today that is doing absolutely nothing to prepare me for the insane hills this course has. So, I will likely still loosely follow the plan, doing one long run per week and one speed workout from the plan plus one trail run (which will be hilly hilly hilly ๐Ÿ˜…). Iโ€™ll slowly work my trail run up to (and hopefully exceeding 10k) before my race in September.

Welcome onboard, your name has been added. I admire trail runners, Iโ€™m still to try this properly. Sounds like you have your training plan sorted for your needs which is the best way, good luck.

Hi Rfc, I would like to join this Quest please...I have entered a virtual challenge for July called FlaminGo and I have to submit proof of all my running and walking to get my medal at the end of the month.

I hope to do at least two runs a week, one longish one, one 30ish minutes and will do some nice long walks too.

I need to cut out 'having a treat' which has become a bit of a habit lately, so will make this accountable too๐Ÿ˜†...

Good luck fellow Questers!

Happy running ๐Ÿ˜Šx

Welcome onboard, your name has been added. The virtual challenges are great for motivation arenโ€™t they? Hehe Iโ€™ve gone back to weight watchers to help with my accountability on the treat front. Happy running.

Hello RFC

This month I would like to....

Run 3 times a week, one 10k and two 5k.

Iโ€™m not worried about running faster or further just yet, I would just like to consolidate what I know I can do if I really push myself.

Thanks!!

I would like to join the Quest please RFC. My goals are:

1) to do a kettlebell workout twice a week. Used to do it 4x a week before beginning running but have let it slip!

2) to try and do one fast 1km split during each short run. Not going to put an exact number on it - just going to try and bring it down from my fastest recorded 5:32

3) run once a week with the running club I joined last week

Good Luck Everyone! xx

I would like to join the Quest. My aim is to run 9 or 10 times this month. I've been running 3 times a week regularly. However, I go on holiday for a week and then we have a weekend of birthday celebrations. In previous years I've struggled to get back to running after the summer break so joining the quest is my cunning plan to make sure I get back into the routine.

My aims for this quest are to

Run on alternate days

Include at least one interval or hill training session each week

Run another 10k - on a new route

Continue to nudge my 5k time down (aiming for under 34 minutes)

I know that seems like a lot of goals but hopefully they'll all help each other out!

Happy July running everyone!

This sounds great! I would like to increase my run:walk ratio over 5 km...more running, less walking ;-) Avoid injury and add some strength exercises.

Morning RFc, can I join this lovely Quest please?

My Quest for July ......

- run before 7 am at least three times a week.......will try alternate days but sometimes life gets in the way!

- stay well hydrated at all times, if I have a busy day I tend to overlook this (tut tut, I know, I know) ๐Ÿ˜ž

- maintain one yoga and one Pilates session per week

Have fun everyone!

Realfoodieclub profile image
RealfoodieclubGraduate10โ€ข in reply toMillsie-J

Welcome onboard, your name has been added. I wish I could motivate myself for early morning runs, in This heat it would be a real bonus. Keep up with the hydration, yoga and Pilates. Good luck.

Hi RFC, my quest for July is to run three times a week and to run my first 10k (current longest run is 7k). If I also manage to fit in my first park run in that time, thatโ€™ll be a bonus :)

Hi Rfc, Iโ€™d like to join the quest please.

Mine is simple - following jujus 10k programme (just about to begin week 3) and not let the heat stop me from getting out there.

Please sign me up for another superbly titled Quest.

As having a monthly cumulative distance goal for swimming seems to work very well for me I am trying one for my running this time.

So that's

1) 5+km swimming (more would be good to make up for a rubbish February)

2) 25+km running

and I am really bored now of being the wrong side of the healthy BMI line since January and all the Christmas leftover eating-up so

3) in the healthy BMI range

Been thinking about the yoga thing and getting the goal right:

4) at least one yoga practice per week

5) yoga on more days than not

Realfoodieclub profile image
RealfoodieclubGraduate10โ€ข in reply toGoogleMe

Welcome onboard, your name has been added. I like the idea of cumaltive goals for the month, that might suit me just now. Good luck with the BMI, Iโ€™ve just had a push with that one, hope you get back to your frequent yoga sessions you really seemed to enjoy those.

I did try this morning but it turned out to be too soon after a rather ample pancake breakfast. Supposed to help with digestion not send things back!

Hi RFC, can I join this Quest please? I graduated 2 months ago and have kept up 30 minutes 3 x a week (one of which is a park run, taking more like 32 mins currently) but have for some reason been avoiding making any future goals! Feel it is time to move on so I would like to:

1. Start the C25k+ podcasts

2. Gradually increase distance on one run a week

3. Aim for 31 minutes 5k on park run!

4. Maintain yoga once a week

5. Add in some other strengthening exercises

Yikes! Did I get carried away?!
