Couldn’t miss this one, NHS 70th Anniversary celebration. Most of volunteers were NHS staff plus lots of runners boosting the field this morning.
The email I received from Parkrun stating that a lot will turn out in fancy dress didn’t really materialise, except for me and a club friend turning out in scrubs.....we both have kids in the NHS so scrubs courtesy of my daughter 😊
Of course, we were mistaken for NHS staff....I was going to say I was a brain surgeon but thought best not 😂
I had my running gear under the scrubs just in case the bottoms ended up round my ankles....they only had waist ties!
Although I was cooking wearing all that clobber, I still set a PB 32’49” so a very happy Chappy 🤗
Enjoy your weekend guys 🏃🏃♀️

Fabulous, ours was great too, got some great pics of docs in theatre scrubs scarpering round the woodland paths, and a paramedic......well done you, was gutted I forgot to wear my badges (nursing school and state badges - don’t think the young’uns get them now.....) but nevermind, it was fun all the same!
- No, they show our age Madge, along with silver buckles. Shame really but I'm probably old fashioned. Unfortunately couldn't make parkrun today, could have dug out that old cape that is still at the back of the wardrobe.
Oh yes, I still have my silver buckle, that and the badges mean so much to me, I could never part with them........the cape, yep had one of those too, it was so warm in the winter.......not so great in the summer....then the gaberdean macs came in....😏.......still got a frilly cap too.....😂.....
When I do the London Winter Run, it goes along Grays Inn Road where I bought my buckle in the Silver Vaults. Very proud moment. I am thinking of stopping altogether soon. I could wear a dress and my buckle and badges on my last day - probably not the frilly hat.
Morning Ted - yes I did, but I’m waiting to claim it when I’ve run the whole 10k. I ran/walked it and although I’d really like the badge I feel I would be cheating myself if I claimed it now. Interestingly I ran behind someone at Parkrun yesterday who was slower than I would normally run but kept me running for longer so I wonder if this is the key. I also did the whole first 5k on a treadmill and find outside running much harder. (Odd as a lot of people I know find it easier). I’m trying to discipline myself to the slow and steady mantra of Oldfloss and hope this will help.
Thanks tho for the thought. I’ll be sure to crow about it when I get there. Have a great Sunday 😊
You look great as neurosurgeon, Ted, and very well done on your new PB (as it must have been hot running in all that garb). Unfortunately, I missed the NHS Parkrun on Saturday as we had family staying for the weekend and I couldn't escape
Thanks Angela. Yes, it was very hot with the scrubs on. I forgot to stop my watch so had to wait for the chip thing. I was surprised it was a PR tbh.... but I’ll take it 🤗
